Gold CWD

Very nice indeed. Was it off your own ground or did you go with someone. If so who would you recommend. I will be looking to book a days CWD stalking next year and want to weigh up the options.
Thanks
Paul

Paul,

It wasn't off my own ground I was actually on a invite from a good friend and wasn't even charged a trophy fee, I did return the favour and took him on my ground but unfortunately he didn't get anything so I still feel I'm in debt to him.

I can say CWD is very different stalking to traditional woodland stalking but every bit as enjoyable its also the best tasting venison you can get IMO,

Thanks

Thats interesting as someone said to me the other day that its bloody horrible stuff! How did you cook yours?

Matt

Matt,

Its more delicate than roe or muntjac less game tasting, I did a stroganoff with the neck, shoulder and a haunch and roasted the other haunch slowly and made a red wine and port gravy. The fillet I cut into medallions and fry like a steak quite plain with salt pepper sometimes do a Diane sauce or add a few chilli flakes.

Its certainly not horrible try some for yourself I'm sure you will like it.

Cracker of a beast and a bonny mount, well done
Who did the taxidermy work?

Dave at "Pennine Taxidermy" did it im really pleased with it. I also know of another guy who works to same standard in Manchester/Liverpool area can get you other guys number if you wish and I think he's a little cheaper.

Agree with the others that really is an impressive mount and would be proud to have that on my wall looks stunning well done mate

Thanks for all your positive comments lads I am chuffed, been stalking 20 years and its my first gold, I've never been a trophy hunter but its nice to get a good example and when you do its only right to do it justice and get a good mount done.

Thanks
Craig
