Good reason

Some people in clubs don't have any hunting conditions on their guns. Being in a club is definitely good reason. Some of them have loads of guns (stuff like Enfields etc).

If you have hunting conditioned guns, really you might want to get them conditioned for range as well. I guess it depends on where the line between 'zeroing practice ' ( the usual wording on hunting guns) and something else lies. You could argue if you're using a hunting condition gun in a range shooting comp you're outside the the guns conditions.
Ive only got the one centre fire and .22 im in Scotland most if not all licenses are open conditions up here so my guns are allowed to be used for anything anywhere so long as there's permission granted for it. A few guys in the club solely do target shooting but im guessing there .338's and magnum .44 are all conditioned to range use only

I've got an open ticket too. Maybe you have a different system in Scotland.

Down here, yeah you can have an open ticket, but it will say what you're allowed to do with each gun still. Hence the stuff about AOLQ conditions etc.

Apologies if it's different there.

Here also having range use/access can increase your ammunition allowance as well.

Im not totally clued up but I think when it comes to those more unusual calibres like say the .44mag or the 338 lap which is just overgunned for anything in the uk then its probably gonna be conditioned to range use only. A revolver certainly will be, but if it wasn't I tell ya what would be a useful humane dispatch gun

Hi,

So joined a rifle club, one of the boys has a .357 underlever and my god oft, I want one big time. If you’re in a rifle club is that your “good reason” to own it ? Or do I need something else ?
Also wanting to get another .22 slot for a semi auto action instead of the bolt I currently have. Also quite a few of the lads have a 338 lapua mag for the big range they have. What’s the crack good reason wise and if I’m wanting to eventually have those calibres I’m guessing I’m best to go one at a time 😂

The underlever is big time on my wish list now
Guns that are conditioned for use on a club range are all well and good until you leave the club, then you automatically have no good reason to own them.
