Great day on the river!

Hunting wild brown trout with a wee dry fly in my local river. Saw a pair of ospreys fishing and an otter working the shallows. Picked up some chicken of the woods and hooked this lump!!

Yeah totally wild fish about 3.5lb measurements 21” long girth 10” there are a lot of big fish in this river up to 6-8lb that I’ve seen but I’ve yet to break 4lb. Very exciting fishing lots in the 19” 2lb plus class

River Doon, nice to have some local fishing.... Was handier when I was in Dumfries, I could walk to the Nith in 15 minutes and be fishing.

can you still see good runs of salmon on the nith in the town there's a weir i used to watch scores of fish jump it when i was at college there in the 80s

Changed days now.
Used to be some big back end fish and runs on the Nith.
Very few salmon or sea trout in most of the solway rivers now, atleast compared to those days.

I used to stand above the weir and munch chips watching double figure fish one after the other cross the weir there were always knackered looking fish in the pool too covered in sores kelts i guess
