gsp abit thin

You wont be disapointed on the condition that tripe will put on your dog
However he may be a little smelly in the house when he passes wind
If you can get a full tripe leave it in water outside and it will be good for a fair lenght of time
regards

Hiya

Thanks for the tip with the GSP rescue. Will go down that way to get a GSP as I have no time to train a puppy. Just getting the misses to agree is hard work
I had a GSP back in Germany 30 Years ago, will never forget that dog. Hope you have a lovely time with your dog I think it looks good. With my dogs dry food and a bit of exercise does well, but I guess you know that. Manfred

Hi Wayne
I'm struggling to keep any weight on my Gsp Max at the moment he's like his owner all c*ck and ribs :lol: ( I wish)

Looking at the photos and comparing them to Max your dog looks like he's missing a lot of muscle, I'm sure this will build with time and exercise, I guess he was kenneled at the rescue centre with only short walks???

Nice looking dog

Try feeding him mince and brown rice. I buy the cheap bags of Tesco's mixed mince, it works out at about £1.20 a bag, this mixed with boiled brown rice and a little gravy will put some weight and muscle back on him. Although excercise is essential, and a warm loving home as well, which he has now got. Good luck

Well done you mereside for taking on a rescue dog, feed him boiled rabbit as a suppliment to the dry food, he'll love you forever....callie

thanks guys for all your help upped his food thoughout the day and seems to be working. i had a vet come round to look at him and check him out .wayne he said the same muscle was lacking and will fill out to match his head but condition is ok coats coming back with a shine he has a few marks only tiny with hair loss about the size of a 5p with dry skin so i have been given a bacterial wash another dose of wormer .his ribs have filled out alot since he came. also he is responding well to heel and ball work and his natural ability to work is strong loves to scent and point and works an area quartering till hes on his scent .this is only playing ball in the snow but great to watch and he loves it and will heel most of the time off a lead till exited and moves on abit but stops when called so chuffed to bits atb, wayne

another thing you could of tried before upping his food , is to give white bread as tit bits
2-3 slices a day will not only save you a fortune on food but will help stabilise weight and build bulk
the other thing is when you work a dog , you need to feed it more than you would when it's not working
very glad to see you are getting some good results in the end
credit to you

just an update with tommy ,hes doing really well now hes building up nicely and coats come shiny might have something to do with my carp in my pond as hes taken a shine to them. i got him to track and scent deer not for fishing and the crafty bugger knows now he cant have them but hes found a new way to jump in the pond he pesteres me to give him his ball and then proceeds to chuck it in the middle with a head flick and goes in after it .i have put a stop to it now but the pond is now going to be grassed over, atb wayne
