looking for advise on good quality makes of sling swivels? needing a couple of sets?for tikka guns!.any advise would helpful cheers folks

I use the sort that you leave the swivel fixed to the sling and the studs attached to the rifle. I think that, now, Uncle Mike's make them? I've a spare set or two in fact somewhere, with the studs, that if you want for a 12.95 per one set including postage. Or if I still a second set 22.95 for two sets. These aren't Uncle Mike's branded and were the Parker Hale marketed ones such as went on the P-Hale M81 Classic stalking rifle. PM me if interested for details. like them as you can put the rifle away without the sling attached. Or just hang the sling on a hook. Either way it stops it getting entangled with your other guns.

Rider, uncle mikes used to be from Grovtec a long while back. Design might be the same but uncle mikes is made in China as far as I understand. I have been using Grovtec since ten years and fitted thousands of Grovtec fittings. Never had one fail. Bent piece of wire? a chain is also just bent pieces of wire so what if it works.
For very heavy rifles I prefer Mil spec flush cups., saying that, we had not had normal swivel studs with hunting rifle slings fail on a tactical rifle. I have seen other brands of sling swivels fail.

Please allow me to disagree. They are nothing but a piece of bent wire; just like the stuff from Uncle Mike's and others.

Have a look at Talon. Now this is what I call a sling swivel!
The Outdoor Connection Talon Sling Swivels - 1 Inch
Please allow me to disagree with the above.

It's ironic the finest arrangement, IMHO, is the now discontinued Uncle Mike's Premier Swivel: Sling Swivels - Premier, Lo-Pro, 1, 1400-2 by Uncle Mike's

It is also the quietest setup as a suitably thick leather sling will mould to the contour of the stud for a delightful interference fit.

Somewhere I have 4 or 5 new sets I purchased when I heard they were pulling the plug on them.

I have a set of EAW quick release that are a thing of beauty. They are very expensive though. My other rifles have fixed sling swivels again made by Rechnagel / EAW.

However the Rigby style with just a loop on the rifle and then a leather thong has a lot to commend it - expensive mind.

Rigby Silent Sling with Thong Ends - John Rigby & Co.

I might do something similar but rather than using a leather thong I will use some old paraglider cord - this is Kevlar cored with a breaking strain of 500kg for 1mm diameter line. Bright orange or red though.

yes their the ones, but mine are the original ones, dont get the cheapo ones for £3 they will break bs

thanks guy, lots of different makes coming out the woodwork!lany makes that do titanium or stainless.dont want to do cheapy ones.

My pal had those push button 4 ball click in flush fitted types and one of them failed and so dropping his rifle to the ground scope hitting it first. Be warned.

Just to demonstrate I try to walk the talk:

My version of the legendary Parker Hale sportarget sling in the making and with UM Premier swivels centre stage. You can see how the fold of leather over the single bar will snug-up to the forend stud.

I use Grovtec as well, they were recommended and sold by Turner Saddlery, who make National Match (1907) slings. I like the security of the locking mechanism.
If Talon incorporated that locking ability into their beefy construction, I would look at them.
