Gunshops in South Wales

I live at the west end of the Brecons National Park, 20 miles north of Swansea. There do not seem to be many gunshops around so it is likely that I might need to do a bit of driving to get to those closest to me. I have been here for a couple of years and am running low on ammunition! I am looking for a dealer with a good reputation for gunsmithing, good selection of stock ammo etc. Can anyone recommend a good gunshop so my drive will be worthwhile? Thanks.

Not sure in your area but we are not a million miles apart. Gun-tec in Shobdon, Herefordshire and A J Leamon in Hereford are worth a call for ammo.

You won't find a gun shop in south Wales that has both a reasonable stock of rifle ammunition and a good reputation for gunsmithing. The Sportsman in Newport probably has the best stock of rifle ammunition but its definitely worth phoning ahead and insisting that they check the stock and reserve it before travelling if you want to avoid a wasted journey. Even then it's not unknown for one of the other staff to sell items that have been put aside as many of us can attest has happened all too often.
For ammunition actually in stock Dauntsey guns in Wiltshire takes some beating.

If you fancy a day out there is always R&B Sporting in Ross. A very decent chap and he has recently expanded. He is on line and you can check before you go. Some rather tasty rifles new and secondhand and he can always get you one in.
Loads of ammo and sportswear so worth it.

western shooting supplies will be the nearest to you, book a slot ed is quite knowlgeable and will prob know a good gunsmith

Great. Some good recommendations, thanks. So, it looks like phone calls and days trips are the order of the day!
