Guntrader Information Leak

Changing the password is like shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted, what they hacked and downloaded was everyone’s personal details, name, address, email and phone numbers.

Too late. The data is already out there, spoofing our accounts will only be any good if there’s another breach.
Yes I know.

As their website is so badly designed there is no obvious account deletion process (how crap is that) this is the best I can do to terminate my association with this business.

No it's good practice.

If people are dumb enough to reuse the password on other sites they should change that as well

Its always good practice to change passwords regularly and to use complicated ones and have different ones for each account / site, but what has happened on the Guntrader site is that everyone’s personal details have been hacked and downloaded and posted on the dark web, changing your password now is not going to provide any protection against what has already happened.

Everyone with a Guntrader account should be very vigilant going forward and review your gun security arrangements.

These things happen, it a fact of modern life.
Yes and there a ****ing great fines for companies that allow it to happen. I wonder why ??

This is not your facebook page with 5000 boring pictures of you making a prick out of yourself but thinking you are funny. A lot of people try to be discrete about their firearms ownership. The risk may well be "small" but the impact of that risk is potentially not "small".

Some of my data has already been exposed through other hacks but my address has not and neither has there been an ability to associate me with firearms ownership.

Step 1: login (note you may need to reset your password);
Step 2: Click 'ACCOUNT' at the top of the page;
Step 3: Click 'Account Information';
Step 4: Click the 'Delete' button.

BTW I have no affiliation to Guntrader.

Because at some point between 2016 and present, you registered on the website and your email was in the list of accounts that were part of the breach. Better to reset the password, visit the accounts section to see what information is there and (a) edit it or (b) delete the account if you no longer require it.
I am grateful for that but I have never registered on the website, I presume they have been 'harvesting' e-mails via their 'cookies'.

Very much doubt so, but worth a check. Reset the password via the email you got the notification, login using the new password and see what information is there witin the accoun section just to be on the safe side. You can also delete the account if you don't wish so.

Guntrader have changed the passwords on all accounts, if you need to log back in you need to do the Forgot Password process. Once into your account there is now an option to delete the account, which is what I have done just incase they get hacked again.

Is it just me, or has anyone else seen sponsored links and ads for data breach solicitors specifically mentioning Guntrader recently?
