Hardy IV surpressor. Any further feedback?

I've got my mod at last. It balances well on my Sako and it will be interesting to compare its performance to my ASE Compact.

Any further thoughts from those that have recently bought a Gen IV and how it compares to their previous mod?

Very happy with it. 55% weight reduction from the T8 brick. Not quite as quiet, but dropped 2 bucks at 198 and 201 yds within 6/7 mins of each other, so THEY weren't worried about this noise!

Good bit of kit

Had a Gen 3 and have upgraded to Gen 4. Fantastic bit of kit, light, compact, well made, superb at reducing recoil and as far as I am concerned quiet. Recently dropped a buck and the doe standing 10 feet away didn't react at all. My understanding is that the Hardy effectively pushes noise out to the sides, so to the shooter. it doesn't sound as quiet as other mods who push the noise forward away from the shooter but towards his target. Maybe true, maybe not all I know is the thing really works well and would not hesitate to recommend it. Ask Bently at Riflecraft and he'll give you the low down or the gen :D

Thanks all for taking the time to reply.
I have a Jet Z at the minute and whilst good at its job, it weighs a fair bit and ruins the balance of the rifle.

Any further updates on hardy mods from users, need something in 18x1 which can take some punishment, they look pretty but is everyone happy with them..

I've had mine a while now in 18x1 there as quiet as any other lightweight mod very very light and only add 2 inches to length very happy with mine I've noticed it doesn't get as hot as other mods I've used maybe due to the muzzle brake or it could be my imagination

Thought they added 80mm?

I am pleased with my gen 4 on a .25-06 with 6.5 hole. It replaced an A tec Maxim and I prefer it for its weight advantage over other mods. It is not quite as quiet to my ears but there is not a lot in it and it is good enough. On a shared day on the hill last autumn, my hunting partner was able to go on and shoot a group of hinds that were a short distance from the ones I shot that were undisturbed. I would recommend it.

Excellent moderator. Highly subjective, but I think the report is louder than the now extinct titanium Quicksilver, but lighter and shorter - so gets my vote.

This is really interesting..... I took someone stalking this weekend at home- farm manager complaining bitterly about deer damage again. The chap had a very smart new Sako 85 in .243 with a Hardy gen IV mod. The first shot he fired on the zero range I thought to be very loud for a moderated rifle, after the second I retrieved some ear defenders from the truck. I then had a couple of shots myself to see if it was something to do with where I was standing in relation to the mod. same effect. We then screwed my ASE utra JET -Z compact on and the difference was quite marked, considerably quieter.

I have absolutely no axe to grind with Riflecraft, they have done a couple of excellent bedding jobs for me in the past- but to my ears at least the Hardy mod is particularly loud. I've read what has been said about the mods and the direction in which they vent the muzzle gasses and find this interesting. I can quite believe that this may result in them sounding louder to the shooter where a sound meter placed adjacent to the mod might detect no difference. However I use moderators on my stalking rifles for no other reason than to protect my hearing and for that reason will not be buying a Hardy (despite it being beautifully made and extremely light).

Very interesting...one question, was the Hardy matched to the rifle calibre? I have heard this before and later found out it was for his 308 used on his .22-250 to save buying 2 mods...calibre diameter not matched....suppression reduced...Simples!

I've been using a Hardy Gen 4 for five months now, and really like it over my previous T8 for it's low weight, low maintenance and the fact it adds so little length to the rifle.

I wholeheartedly agree with the comments above about it not being/"seeming" as quiet as others, but the sound reduction is adequate for me - I don't feel the need to use any additional hearing protection.

It does an excellent job of reducing muzzle flip and allowing me to retain sight picture, and I can hear bullet strikes in similar situations and conditions as I could with the old T8.

I'm guessing my setup would probably sound worse than most too, as i'm shooting a 20" barrelled .270 and my Gen 4 has the larger aperture size....
