Has anyone made a front sight for a Volquartsen carbon 10/22 Barrel.

Hi, I always like the provision for iron sights on a rifle, even though i might never use them.
I have a ruger 10/22 with a threaded carbon barrel.
I just wondered if anyone had made a front sight for theirs. Had been thinking of modifying a scope mount or torch mount to take a section of pictanniny rail to fit a generic sight to. Is the a practical shotgun sight that would fit ? Or if tapping one to the thread protector - any ideas for a doner sight. It would have to be quite high as the receiver extends above the barrel. Was thinking of an aperture on the reciever.
You can buy a front sight from the states - but I have been charged astronomical fees and customs duty in the past - on very low value items.

Recknagel produce a number of options which may or may not suit you. The catalogues can be sourced via the Alan Rhône website. Good luck.

Take a piece of mild steel bar - a little wider than barrel diameter, and as thick as the muzzle threads. Drill and tap at one end with the same thread as your muzzle is threaded to. Time the threads, or carefully file one face so that other end sits vertically. And then file up a foresight.

Hi LJ,

I have a Volquartsen barrel end cap to 1/2” unf. I was thinking along the same lines as Heym above, the moderator thread could be cut off and a blade sight made to be fixed at the top correctly indexed point?
