Having a problem mounting schmidt and bender 3-12x50

Get the same prob with my anshutz 17hmr which has leupold vxl on it so very low mounting and quite a large diamater mod, easily solved by using a long black sock slid right down the barrel over mod attach to front swivel or bipod with a bit of wire and tape with black insulation tape around the front and rear of mod and poke a hole through for bullet just use a clean sock though. For what its worth i doubt higher mounts will solve the problem.

Hi guys just thought i would let you know i tried a medium set of mounts and this seems to have helped a lot but its not perfect yet, it seems i can have the scope close to the barrel and have a glare or keep it up a bit and get rid of the glare although it really was a perfect fit for me on the low mounts, i cant understand why i didnt have the same problem with the Docter?? could the fact that it was 1" and the schmidt is 30mm have an efffect on this?

make yourself a cardboard sunsheild i bet this will solve your problem and if it does then just buy yourself a proper one i have one on one of my schimidt which is also a 50mm front lense and i think it cost me about £30

this is not an uncommon problem. As prev mentioned a lengthy sun shade will considerably resolve the problem, I use a 4" on on my Leupold. I have exactly the same problem on my Howa and Meopta. Also a form of stop on the lamp which reduces the spill will help. Also a gun mounted LED will help, if so mount it back as far as possible.

the other option is a piece of insulation tape across the front of the bottom of the scope works a treat. As said I've had it on most rifles so I wouldn't be too worried its the stainless finish
