No but still farm crop from ground with lead and then we spray glysophate all over said crop and eat it ...
Are we the only species who sprays poison all over our food then eat it ?

And thinking we remove lead then antis will leave us alone is absolute fantasy.....

They dont give a fu*k what we shoot....theh want gun and public ownership of guns gone immediately and will only be at peace once thats done

i disagree , once shooting etc is gone they will find something else to be against - have a look at any protest for pretty much any thing and the anti's are of a certain type , just malcontents with no real contribution to society (i know it's a generalization but hopefully you get my point)

yes i am pretty jaded about it all now !

The net is closing in on lead. According to The Times yesterday (paywall) the Health and Safety Executive is proposing to limit the maximum permissible levels of lead in the blood of general employees from the existing 60 micrograms per decilitre to 30 mcg by October next year before cutting it to 15 mcg two years later. For women classed as being of "reproductive capacity" under the age of 50 the permitted level is due to drop from the current 30 mcg to just 7.5 mcg by October next year. It is said that workers in the stained glass industry may be affected by the new regulations.

It's a weird one:

A 45-year-old woman was referred to the Department of Occupational and Environmental Health in January 2002 because of increased blood lead concentrations of unknown origin. She suffered from malaise, fatigue, and diffuse gastrointestinal symptoms. She had a blood lead level of 550 microg/L (normal range < 40 microg/L). The patient had not been occupationally exposed to lead, and no potential lead sources, such as food products or lead-glazed pottery, could be identified. Her food habits were normal, but she did consume game occasionally. Clinical examination, including standard neurologic examination, was normal. No anemia was present. Laboratory tests showed an increased excretion of lead in the urine, but there were no signs of microproteinuria. An abdominal X ray in October 2002 revealed a 6-mm rounded metal object in the colon ascendens. Before the object could be further localized, the patient contracted winter vomiting disease (gastroenteritis) and the metal object was spontaneously released from the colon during a diarrhea attack. The object was a lead shot pellet, possibly but not normally used in Sweden for hunting wild boar or roe deer. Blood lead levels slowly decreased. Nine months later the patient's blood lead levels were almost normal (approximately 70 microg/L) and her symptoms had almost completely disappeared. In this case, a rare source of lead exposure was found. In investigations of blood lead elevations of unknown origin, we recommend abdominal X ray in parallel with repeated blood lead determinations.

I can understand a small lead fragment or a small shotgun pellet being ingested without the individual realising, but a 6mm lead ball?

Not questioning the scan, symptoms or cure, but can you really believe that someone would swallow a 6mm lead ball without either realising or breaking their teeth?
Perhaps the source of the ball is not what we think

What would be interesting is how that patient is now doing 25 years later.

Voided the pellet in Jan 2003, blood lead down to 72ug/l after 7 months, all signs of malaise and fatigue (the presenting signs) disappeared

@Buchan with all due respect being a vet you will know very well with what I am talking about, but would you say avian influenza has killed more wild birds in the last 4/5 years than lead ever has?

From what I’m seeing here in hillbilly Norfolk, a lot of shooting takes place and there is a mass of birds of prey, kites, buzzards and I did see a periguine not that long ago, so speak as I see , or a lot of harm being done

Still on lead in-land, birds of prey increasing year on year, owls hooting away and see them gliding around with the thermal, lots of wild partridge chicks each year as they have been breeding. All my given away muntjac is shot with lead (people know that)
