Hearthstanes sika stalking

Had a brilliant 3 days sika stalking . I had a bit of bad luck on my behalf and only shot one , but I saw a lot .the weather was kind and no rain for a change. Bernhard was a very nice guy and I’m looking forwards to my next trip up there .

I really like Sika and the only time been closer enough to shoot one was with a camera, you must of had a fair bit of bad luck to shoot 1 in three days.

Two from last Wednesday

Just typical sika . Out feeding until it gets light enough see , then they wander in . Same on a night . As soon as it’s dark they are everywhere.

There were a good few around last Wednesday , weather was really nice so they popped out just about everywhere. There was a good showing on Saturday too.
Just trying to come to grips with the last of the cull, concentrating on yearling hinds where we can.

Fantastic animals despite lots of dislike from foresters

Had a fridge to dismantle and move on Friday but had the last hour for a quick walk. Saw a couple of hinds and what was a very large stag out on a new lay. Unfortunately I couldn't get a good look at the stag but it was only a walk without the rifle. In the distance, just through the mist I could see a group of what looked like 20 - 20 stags and prickets so next weekend I'll be out, maybe with a colleague to get his first Sika. As I write, countryfile has started and it looks like it involves some Scottish stalking. Time for a watch.

.......... well, just watched.....not much of it but at least it was not all anti. I think they should have sent a fitter presenter
