Evening all, yet another query.
I a now putting in a paid for variation 😞 to aquire a .22 centrefire (hopefully 222, but want to cover all bases and just apply for .22 CF.
Good reason sorted being vermin / Deer (cwd mj, and possibly roe if I get up to Scotland) also now a member of a club / range.

Looking to reload for the .22 and possibly my current. 243.

What would be an acceptable starting point for ammo allowance given a mix of target work, vermin / Deer control.

To get started with load development and different types / weight of bull etc I can see it being higher than my current 100 x 243 or am I being foolish? I am thinking that while sorting home loading, I will still need sufficient factory ammo for day to day use.I was thinking 200 of each. Will leave the 22 RF as is at 500 as can purchase and store at the range.

Thanks, TD66

Ask for an outlandish amount and negotiate down.
That's what I was planning, but need to work out the justification to them.
eg. 100 x .22 factory for while I work up loads. 5 x rounds of each .22 x 0.1 grain Increments to max load adds up to a lot of rounds (haven't yet done the full maths!)
That's without adding different bullet/head weights types into the mix 😀

I have 220 for deer calibres,to allow loading batches, plus a few from last time.

.22/250 l reduced to the same level.
Good excuse to get the reloading gear out in the winter if l get low.

.22rf,hold 600.

I have 500 for 222, 500 for 6.5x47 and 750 for 22LR with Police Scotland. Deer, vermin and a bit of target shooting too. I think I held similar amounts when I was down in Lancashire (can't be certain, its years ago now).

600 for each cf & 2000 for rf is reasonable for a mix of target & quarry shooting. Ask for more though as they’ll look to cut it down.

One thing often overlooked is to make sure you can demonstrate you have the space to store that much though!
Good point, but safe storage is not going to be an issue 😉

In my parish they don’t like you having more than 200-300 per centrefire calibre.
When I had a number of rifles it was 200 acquire/300 possess except for my .303 rifles (SMLE and No4) where it was 600. I think now that the FAC only states the maximum allowed to be held? When the Tory putting of expanding bullets under FAC requirement existed I had all amounts increased. Fortunately that nonsense has now been repealed.
