Evening all,
Finally, got my shoulder mount ibex delivered and last week from Madrid. Looking at options to mount to wall. Normally I would use a spring toggle expansion heavy duty wall cavity anchor, which comes with a standard pinhead screw.
The taxidermist has created a slit in the back of the mount which is about 8mm wide gap (no shield) and fixed a metal cross bar screwed in to the back; I assume this is to allow a 90 degree hook of some sort to pass through the wooden back and sit securely in front of the metal crossbar. However, I’m at a bit of a loss as to where to find such a hook that is narrow enough To fit yet strong Enough to hold the weight.
What I had thought about was to try source a Heavy duty version of a standard single picture hook but one that is a little narrower, If such an if such a thing exists? And then screw it down flat to the wall using the Aforementioned, heavy duty cavity anchor, with the pinhead screw provided.
Grateful for views on what others would recommend and where you source such mounting hardware from?
