I have a Hik micro M15 trail cam. It has a socket for 12volt external power supply.
Doe's anyone know where I might purchase the power lead please.
The retailer contacted Hik who provided a link to Amazon. Unfortunately none of the adaptors in the box fit.
Many thank in advance.

Bryan.

Have you managed to source a suitable power bank? All the ones I see are 12v 1.5A
I think this will work (AA batteries are 1.5v) but the spec sheet says it needs 2A.
I’ve been told that the Anker Power IQ works with it. But this is 12v 1.5A

If it fits, the 1.5A should work, just take a little longer and the battery should be a tad cooler on recharging -not a bad thing tbo

I purchased from Amazon -12v 2amphour +7plugs. Brand =YUWLDD @£7.99

On advice from Hik. None of the adaptors fit the pin though.

A picture would be useful to see what you migth be after.

You may want to compare the specification for each of the available adaptors before picking the right one. The inside/ outside diameter specs can be found. There might be options for 230v converters or those with crocodile clips which can then be connected to a car battery. If you can find a fitting adaptor, you can even make one if you have access to a solder and some 2 core electric cable.

Is it the round type to take a male pin in the unit as they are called a jack socket in different sizes so will only have a +/-
lots of those with 2 wires and i would say the wire with the stripe would be + so centre and the outside -
If your unit takes 1.5v battery's lots of packs available.
Find an old charger with the right jack socket snip it long and solider to a pack of 1.5's and a tiny Tupperware box

No. It's a male pin in the camera to take a female pin or plug. So two important dimensions ie, external size of pin in camera and internal of recess or thickness of the plug.
It would appear Hik are unable to publish the required information even to a major retailer.
I don't want a pack of 1.5s as they already exist in the trailcam. I want to power from mains. It's in a dog kennel where a ferrel cat has deposited 5 lovely black kittens- Available to good homes.

That is a female jack socket you need with lots of chargers around so I would take the unit down the local computer shop they will find you the size Jack and buy a 12v 1.5 amp supply with a xyz size jack plug

When I change the batteries next I will take a few metric drill bits and measure the recess. I don't know how I can measure the male pin, approx 1.5mm- but has brass contacts that look springy.

Did you manage to sort it Bryan?
Hi Nick.
I am not sure.
I purchased a 2 pin plug from a gadget shop that I modified with side cutters to fit the adaptor that came with the power plug.
I intend to solder it before powering up and leaving it unattended.
Its a poor show from Hik in my opinion.

Any joy Bryan?
I popped into an electrical shop with the M15 today and although they didn’t have any adaptors in stock (which is very unusual as they normally have everything) they told me it needs a long reach 4.0mm x 1.7mm female socket.
I’ve ordered one off Amazon but I don’t think it will come before Xmas. I will let you know how I get on.
Hik continue to be useless and don’t seem to understand the question, repeatedly telling me it’s 12v DC 2A. Great - what about the other end!!!!

Exactly Nick. They are pathetic and as much as I would like to have another camera, they can poke em.
Mine has chewed through a set of batteries today. I also think it's ridiculous that the batteries have to be prized out with a screwdriver or similar because they are so tight fitting.
I did cobble something together but don't trust it without soldering and shrink wrapping it.
I fancy a Condor too but that's another story.

Regards Bryan.

Finally some success.
I have managed to get the M15 working on an external supply.
The lead was from Amazon. A 4.0mm x 1.7mm 2A male plug DC adapter.
And a battery from Screwfix, product code 20080 (2.1A sealed lead acid battery).
Soldered spade ends to the wire. All good.
Sadly Screwfix don’t sell an IP67 rated box that’s ‘just right’ size. I can tell you they sell one that’s not quite ‘just right’ size!!!! So still looking for that bit. So far so good. Nick

Hi Nick,
Great info, thank you.
I’m going to give this a go on my M15 too, do you need the internal batteries fitted to use the external one? Or can you leave the AAs out completely?
Sam
