I am about to make my own version of a high seat rifle rest. I might have a long torso or whatever, but usually in a high seat I have to scrunch down to get on the rifle stock that is not optimum. Also I have found I shoot better with the fore end of the rifle on something soft on the high seat rifle rest. I have seen one version of what I was going to make in the field another stalker had devised a while ago. This was make of two foam filled big socks stitched to a fabric belt connecting the two socks. The belt allowed for you to wrap it around the rifle rest once or twice once in position and bring one of other of the socks up under the rifle. So ideally I need it to raise the rifle by 50 to 75mm. Any experiences out there of this DIY accessory that I have yet to see exploited commercially?

I have been lately using my stalking bum bag full of kit to do this, but balancing the bag on the rifle rest is not the easiest in the dark or other field conditions.
 
If your high seat has one of those totally crappy round rails running along the front & sides to shoot off, I'd advise you get some composite board, and using U bolts fix some to the top, you can then use whatever size of bean bag to rest your rifle on for a steady shot.

Hello, I made a Rifle Rest for a Motor where it fitted over the passenger door and a arm with a swivel Yoke , Might be something that be ok for a high seat

Yes, I tend to use stuff I work with but found the same problem as you, it is the rails are made far to low which causes people to do what your describe.
When we shot in Lincoln the single H/S rails were a good 3" low so I used 2 G/clamps and welded a V on both faces
(see picture) They went in my rucksack and a 30" broom handle went in the slip then through the bit of box section.
Takes very little time to fit up and you get a solid rail to rest on without the neck twisting.

Good suggestions. I still am keen on the two bean bag bollocks on a belt or sling idea as once wrapped on, they cannot fall off and they are quickly adaptable. I might set it up to start in the direction where I think the shot is coming from, but invariably the deer will appear off the other odd corner of the rest etc.

foam pipe lagging secured with cable ties ( tape rapping on your steel rest post)
 
Yes, most high seats are actually crap to shoot out of... I have a couple of beanbag made by a member on here who makes stuff and whose name currently escapes me. Anyway, I stack them on top of each other and the rifle nestles quite nicely...
 
It is the height of most rifle rests that's the key for me. As said, they are virtually all ergonomically too low. I will devise something, try it and get back....
 
I have one of these, it lays over a rail very well. It's yet another thing to drag around, so I don't bother if I'm going to be stalking for ages on the way to the set though!

This window bag is more of what I was wondering about. It just seems no now has considered high seats as say quads have been considered.
 
Those "inverted U" designs are available for highseats also, e.g. from Germany. Importing might get expensive though.

Some basic principles, you want center of weight to be below the rail, so the bag (or whatever you make, like piece of closed cell foam cut to fit) will not fall down on it's own.

Also make sure to check your POI, shooting supported in similar fashion. If you e.g. keep your hand on forend while shooting from quad sticks, the POI might move if shooting support hand on buttstock from the highseat. All depends on rifle, cartridge and your shooting form.
