High Seats

Good seats but make sure that you get the single plus version. The narrow ones are only suitable for shooting straight in front and IMO aren't fit for purpose. Don't scrimp on seats that you might want to use for years to come. I've seen some terrible designs for sale on here by a Hunter who owns a Forge. Far too narrow and no V behind the seat to stop it slipping on the tree. If you see any being sold that fit this description then walk away. If you ask any questions you will be told to mind your own business or worse. Clearly not someone aiming for repeat business that's for sure. If they're much cheaper than the equivalent seat being sold by Keith then walk away because it will have something missing.
Good luck and happy hunting
Thanks

2x nails hopefully went into each side of the rung, screws tend to loosen over time, rung should be a bit longer sticking out as that's where the dreaded rot begins to chew away at the wood. Good work though. 👍
I slapped some waterproof Titebond behind them before putting the 100mm screws in, I don’t think they’re going anywhere fast tbh.
I’ve also drenched them in creosote, so aren’t too worried about rot for a while.

Yes I just had a conversation with him. He said the materials have got so expensive he'd have to charge 50% more than before. For the quality and size I think even that increase is worth it. Hopefully he will start again though.
I do hope so. Substantial high seats 😃

Sorry to bring this back.

I have seen discussions with people talking about high seats with removable ladders, whereby you take a telescopic ladder with you? How does the seat remain in the tree? Is it more of a treehouse than a high seat?

What you take with you then you have to take back....KISS is the answer. If your area is one where seats have one missing just find a spot to stand with the sticks. If not do your best (put a good chain around the frame at the top)
Big chain double nut it and burr the thread, if you put the bolt at the back of the tree off a ladder it is harder to get to.

All this is common sense but this is people who have an FAC  .

I do agree Tim,

But I'm currently considering building my own, and not building the ladder could keep the build simple!

where will you keep the ladder as some one will find it OR you will look like the window cleaner with 2 buckets a ladder on his bike a rifle and a deer....

I have built 5 high from single tree mounted single free standing twin free standing which converts to a tree standing one...so I have a bit of a eye for what works....most seats the front rail is way to low, people don't add a elbow rest so the back of the gun is floating like a dead seagull.... :tiphat:
