Hik Habrok

Thanks for the reply and footage. I think focused on a single point I didn't have a problem. It was more when I scanned/panned across a landscape that it looked really jittery. kind of like the processor was having trouble keeping up with rendering the image. Not an issue that happened when in thermal mode (wonder if the thermal runs a different graphic processor).

++Update++
RFD sent footage off to HIK distributor who agrees it ain't right. Hopefully a replacement will be in the post with daytime setting in good order.

I finally got to have a look through the Habrok at my local RFD yesterday… fully expecting to part with my money as it seems to tick a lot of boxes at a great price point. The thermal mode seemed as good a quality as I had hoped - no arguments there. The daytime mode was what disappointed me. As I panned the rendering of the image was extremely ‘glitchy’ and not at all smooth.

RFD took a look through and agreed.. even saying it made him feel a bit queasy. We tried updating to latest firmware but still had the same problem. Is this something others have experienced or is it possibly just a faulty unit?

I got a set of HQ35L from Blackwoods and there was an issue with them, Ian sorted this out very quickly and was great to deal with.

Seem good so far, only annoyance is that there is a sale on them already down to £2519 and only got mine a few weeks ago.

Interesting on the white spots, will need to look out for these.

Need to get a decent harness for them if anyone has any recommendations ?

Kuiu XL fits perfectly

Took mine to the Hik stand and they were very helpful not!
Did I expect more, well I thought so
So I have to pay £40 to send them to them under warranty. What a joke.
When fixed they are going as with every piece of Hik.
The service I got from ATN was much better.
Silly me thinking customer were important.
Oh and on the IR point, apparently illuminating only 75% of the image is acceptable as it’s a design issue. Sarah, there technical director confirmed this. So you sell something with a built in defect!

I asked at the show re the ir being set at the top of the screen. Apparently they are working on a firmware update to bring the focused ir down into the middle of screen when wound to spot setting. Its far too high at the minute.
That said they are amazing and I wouldn't go back to thermal pulsar. I held the pulsar duo yesterday, Christ they heavy and no day optical channel, just black and white night + thermal. Pulsar are lagging these days.

To be honest I don't find the need to use the IR as the thermal hot black is so good it gives me all the ID I need.

Incidentally with the moon as it is now I tried the daylight mode at 11 pm and it was quite remarkable. I spotted a fox at 120 yards in almost full colour.

I think Pulsar after cornering the market for so long became a little complacent and others have taken advantage of this.

Are you trying to state a Habrok is better than a Merger Duo from a visit to a show ?

With all due respect I think you need to get them out in the field in a range of conditions and distances and compare in-target detail, overall detail in high humidity, eye display quality, refresh rate, one has zero lag when scanning, even from a moving vehicle, overall build quality.

Without any shadow of doubt you will see a difference.

You can't compare something that aren't the same though. I wasn't comparing. I saw they had a multi spectrum bino at the show. Looked at them and they hadn't got a day optical channel so no comparison and if the mergers are the money they are I wonder how much these pulsar duos are going to be.
For me the habroks with day/night/thermal/ir and lrf for £2520 for the hq version is the best deal on the market at the minute for someone who wants everything in a unit that weighs no more than a set of 8x42 binos. That duo from pulsar is like a brick in weight.

Totally agree, I went from accolade pro to these, I’m sure there are better individual images available, but as an all round, spot, identify, shoot package you can’t beat it
