have a go at the chickens feller and keep your nest egg ;) for a while use your new income to move on in life with a x-y x£ back stop just in case ? and slowly start for stalking up . as per 6.5 my pal who he prob knows runs a chicken farm in halstead essex he has a house on the farm and is very happy with his lot hard work and some silly hrs but rewarding
good luck

yeah i do know several farms out that way , in fact my gaffers 2 other farms are in coggalshall and earls colne.

and the hours are only silly when the catchers are in or there are problems with the birds it become a bit of a head scratcher but apart from that it a sweet little number !

Red dot, It,s a forum, a discussion. This man has an issue which may or may not involve stalking. As it happens. I,m not sure I would divulge my personal situation in that way but hey!, if he is confident enough to throw his circumstances into the forum and get some very reasonable responses.....and they are in my opinion... then why not?. After all you are not compelled to show any interest or respond if you don,t approve. Having been on here for some months now, I actually quite enjoy a lot of the "slightly off topic" stuff. Not to say that it,s not a stalking site.. it is. Interestingly, there has been a pretty large response to his issue, Iain

Good luck with your choice,

I'm a pro who has be at it for 15 years, it can be a killer on your family life unless you plan properly. it's also a way of life and not a job as such, I work for a estate which makes life easier but I find myself occationally wondering if stacking shelves in tescos would be a better way to pay the bills. If you do go down the stalker route remember that you health is very important to you and make sure you are insured to the hilt. It looks like I have 2 or 3 years left in one of my hips and what I'm going to do when it goes I still have no idea, but I can tell you that I will be trying to make up for all the days I missed with the kids that I was out the hill with clients.

Don't get me wrong pro stalking is a fantastic way to make a living (if you can make a living at it) but I dont think I have ever met a wealthy pro stalker who made their money stalking.

just my thoughts

good luck

Andy

As Andy said its more away of life than a job,and don,t expect to get rich, you can make a living but that's about it.
Again as Andy says being employed by an estate is the easiest option, but while I don't know your age or background it's not easy together start unless you are a youngster or have previous experience and Imean experience in that roll, not experience as a recreational stalker.

So that will most likely mean going down the self employed route then you need to take into account the ououtlay as others have said the cost of leases insuring your vehicle for commercial purposes at the momentI am around £850 per year , public liability insurance expect to pay £600 £700 a year for that maybe more depending on your needs.

Then you have the cost and the time involved in taking courses things you need to cover yourself when dealing with the public First Aid, ATV courses if you are going to be using them of course, sit in or sit astride different courses , health and safety course, these ,there are probably more you can think of and they will cost you a fair bit of cash don't skimp on them , it's all about covering your a@@@ when the proverbial hits the fan as it has a habit of doing.

You also need to consider the lean times what about the weather, what about things like foot and mouth the last time it happened I was not able to work for almost three months, do you have enough behind you to cover such eventualities.

Having said all that its a great way of life and I would not wish to do anything else, but it is not necessarily
an easy option

And reach the grave saying I wish I had just done that?[/QUO

And reach the grave saying I did the very best I could for my family. I put them before me, I sacrificed something in order to give them the very best I could. Not a bad legacy to leave.

With respect - I'd say that spending time with your kids, rather than working all the time so you can pay someone else to look after them, is very much doing the very best for them, and not a bad legacy to leave them either.

Well what a week.
I thought I had sold the business. the guy who wanted it turned out to be a bit of try it on type and when I told him that I was only working until the end of August he went mad and backed out. He honestly thought that I was selling him the business and that he was going to use all my equipment and that he'd be taking the money and paying me a wage and would pay me for the stock as we used it :finger:. I may as well been self employed with my own business.
Fortunately I had another buyer waiting and today we exchanged deposits and on Tuesday I start training his son on the understanding that I WILL leave at the end of August. He is buying all the stock and equipment too.
Whilst with the new buyer today finalising details the chicken farmer phoned me. So on Monday I have to go in for a baptism of fire as he wants me there to help with the bedding in of 40,000 broiler chicks. That's gonna be nice. 40,00 chicks unloading into a shed in 30 degree heat.
So business is now definitely sold, and I'm going to be sweating my b@llocks off on Monday handling chickens!!

You will be fine, 40,000 should only take an hour max

Like I said on the phone, give it a go and see how it rides.
