Hi picked up a box of hornady eld match 52 grain yesterday. Has anyone used them on Fox, Roe ? didn't notice they were for target until I caught home. Don't want to open them if they are not what I'm after.
Thanks
Jim

Not the same, but very similar, I have been using Sierra Tipped Match Kings 69 grain in the 22BR for foxes. They are performing very well. Construction wise I believe the bullets are very similar. Couldn't comment on use for Roe but I wouldn't use them personally. The TMK's are very destructive.

I think you will find that they don't expand, not designed to. They may 'pencil hole' through, and the bullet will carry on out the other side, taking most of its energy with it. Although enough damage will likely be caused by the permanent wound track, death may not be instant; worse of all you could have a wounded fox limping away to suffer badly.
I would swap them for something more suitable myself.
Mate of mine tried some Match Ammo with 'hollow points' the hollow point was tiny, and I believe was part of the manufacturing process, NOT to provide any large degree of expansion.

They are Amax by another name
in larger calibre they work extremely well
smaller calibre they can be unpredictable either expanding like a standard cup and core or opening up violently causing massive surface wounds when encountering joints/bones on the way in

I shot a mule deer with my 6.5 Grendel using the 123 ELDM. Killed it quite well.~Muir

My bet is the 52gr will work very well. Better to try them just like with hunting ammo... they don't all work either or some might not suit certain shot placement etc. I have a lot of time for match bullets on game but one must know what one is doing and one must test. Some don't expand others might over expand. The advantage is that they are mostly much more consistent than hunting bullets.

I used the ELD-M in 6.5 they work great I shot everything with them and had no issues but I just gone to ELD-X and haven't noticed the difference both work well in my opinion
