pushed out the nest by competing siblings?
I think there were only 3 in there. Will see if anymore heads poking out
Not sure how well young birds regulate body heat but its hot in the sun and slate certainly gets hot.
Ok, so that's that ruled out.
Tried to fledge too early to escape the heat maybe?

Parent birds dead ?
Parasites I'd a nest in one of our sheds last year above where I keep meal for other stock
I noticed 1000s of mites on the meal bags
They were northern fowl mites I got up a ladder and gave the fledglings a good spray of frontline they were being eaten alive

Swallows built a couple of nests under the roof of my porch on my cabin. We were sitting on the porch last summer and the babies fell out of their nest. All 3 fell out within an hours time. 2 died on impact and the third I put back in the nest but it was dead within 15 minutes. Swallows haven’t been back since.
No parents still around
