they are, as this poll clearly shows. But then you have given up. It won't change unless the members do something.

100% correct I gave up on basc years ago when they gave up on thier members , it’s been a gravy train for years . I wouldn’t want basc to change , just disband , they should reap what they’ve sownBut then you have given up. It won't change unless the members do something.
People complain as they want the organisation, the supplier, the service provider to have the chance to say "Sorry" and to own and correct the issue that has caused the original complaint. They want to give a second chance for the matter to be put aright before walking away.
That's why we complain out of a hope that BASC might actually "own" the complaint, might admit it got things wrong, might actually apologise, might actually try to then put things aright by spending money to redress the complainer's concerns (for example on a judicial review of the medical report issue or at least publishing the advice) and might actually give a guarantee that next time it does better.
If BASC as an organisation can't even comprehend this most basic "rule" of handling customer complaints then who on earth are they employing up at Marford Mill? At a wages cost of XXX Million? Have they no idea how complaints should be correctly handled?
As an earlier post has pointed out there are organisations out there specific to the type of fieldsport or shooting they represent. My problem is that BASC is bulling themselves up to be "THE" voice of shooting and as such have made decisions independently that have serious consequences for all shooters. So they voted with their feet. That's fine, so why are so many still complaining about it? I'm not trying to be argumentative but if you're not members anymore what is the problem. I could understand if you had just left them but not if it was years ago.
It would be interesting to know how many of you that have left - irrespective of how long ago - ever took any active part in the organisation.
I'm not actually defending the BASC I am looking at this as a complete outsider. I would also be interested in knowing what are your ideas for a voice for shooting in the UK? Or don't you want one?
My feeling is that you have too many organisations in the UK that all have their own agendas.

They seem to be , but let’s face it as long as people keep paying them why should they care ?But if enough members make their feelings felt then they will have to do something. That's possibly easier to do at a local level. go to the local meeting and bring forward a motion that everyone there can vote on and then that has to be acted on. They cant just ignore it. Or can they?
I joined when it was WAGBI and have paid my fees ever since. And there you have the real problem with BASC and other orgs. There are many who are only there for the insurance and don't take an active role in anything that THEIR organisation does. Don't get me wrong EMcC I don't mean to single you out, it is just that you probably gave a perfect representation of 80% of the members of BASC. Maybe this is where the blame really lies with the likes of BASC, they don't connect with their members and actively encourage participation.
This sums up BASC for me at the moment Ian Bell's Blogs - BASC
Last blog was 2018
He represents 140000 and cannot even be bothered to update us.
This lack of communicating fully obviously affects the rest of the organisation
The above poll shows the problem , 28% sticking with basc no matter what failures or apathy , just through blind loyaltyBut if enough members make their feelings felt then they will have to do something. I think if more people did what you do, they would probably get a better association that responds to their needs. At the end of the day these are your organisations they are not companies run for the shareholders.
I think you’ll find basc is very much not for the members

"Change, change, change! As if things weren't bad enough already!" Anon. The same as in the poem by Hilaire Belloc who wrote this "And always keep ahold of nurse For fear of finding something worse."
As well as the delightful "South Country" that ends with the lovely "And the men that were boys when I was a boy, Shall sit and drink with me."
So it's just as some don't change electricity suppliers or car insurers or house insurers. Fear of getting something worse.
I was a basc member for 15 years , I must ask what do you think is important ? Discounts on diesel or saving shooting sports ? I don’t join an org for perks I join so they can fight for usIs that ur view on ur long experience of being a basc member.
That's right cheaper desiel, 20% of new motors and free entry to game fairs plus subsidised stalking.
All of the above they've been slated for anyway. They really can't win with some
Aye nothing positive for members I can see.![]()
