That sounds like a terrible ordeal and I'm glad you are ok (albeit bruised and battered)
Its a great story and one of note because it could happen to any of us
I for one will be more vigilant next time I go out near water
One of the best posts I have ever read
Once again, glad you are ok
Well I've just spent the ninth night having to sleep sitting on the settee, because I still can't lie down
I hate taking pain killer type tablets, unless I really need to, but it got to the point where I decided to go to A&E yesterday afternoon, where as expected, they said they couldn't do anything, other than give me some stronger pain killers. So I was actually quite excited to go to bed last night, thinking I'd be able to get my first decent nights sleep in just over a week.............
Wrong, ribs weren't having any of it, and it was back down stairs to sleep sitting on the settee !
Now I'm wondering just how long it's going to take for my ribs to sort themselves out. They'd better get their act together before I go to Hungary at the end of the month !
Heathrow, Terminal 1 is normally a good healing shrine
I find that all, or most, of my ailments disappear when I arrive there, ready for the off.
I sometimes get reminded, to the titillation of the other members of the group, when I go through security because my 'metal bits' set off the alarm and when I go for my pocket to get the Doctors card explaining why the alarm is activated, they get even more twitchy - and so do I if there are any armed security about
I've been shot three times (shotgun") but the worst experience was going down into a "quicksand" in an old gravel pit in Gloucestershire. Like the OP ansd others it's the seeming slowness of the events that make them so memorable and scary. The three shooting accidents happened obviously very quickly, but the sinking down to upper chest level was horrendous with plenty of time to think! Fortunalely a chap got a branch out to me.
These things are always out there.
