How much ammo do I need for DSC1?

Got DSC coming up, I'm getting to the point of needing to make more ammo if I keep busy for the rest of the CWD season but with an impending house move my reloading station is dismantled. Would like to avoid rebuilding it just to take it down again for the move. How many rounds of ammo do I need for DSC1?

Long time ago so the targets have changed...... distances and now dispatch etc....

I only used 17 rounds that included a few on the practice day and the obligatory on the actual test/ exam. Some of my fellow participants use 40 / 50 as they seemingly turned up not having zeroed their rifles and or the usual excuses etc......

Its very straight forward.

Depends on whether you pass the shooting test first time round!

Took 40 factory prepared rounds 4 years ago and had unspent rounds after the test.
Joining instructions said homeloads were not allowed, oh and boxes/containers were checked

I'm pretty sure it's nine rounds total.
3 to be fired from prone into a 4" area on the target (offset from the deer target).
2 fired from prone into body kill zone
2 from 70/75m supported sitting/kneeling into body kill zone
2 from 10-20m standing supported at the head kill zone

The DMQ site does not mention the 3 round check zero but not a bad idea to factor it in.

I used 9.
I seem to remember that a maximum of three attempts were allowed, in which case you're not going to need more than 27 rounds in total.
This is all from memory as I can't find details of the current shooting test but it all changed a little while ago and as far as I can recall only six rounds are fired in the assessment.
2 at 100 either prone or a simulated high seat.
2 at 70
2 at 10-20 head shot simulating humane dispatch.
I think that you are required to turn up with a zeroed rifle and that you only get one other attempt if you fail at the first attempt.

Perhaps one of the current assessors will be good enough to update us with accurate information.

A while ago now but turned up with 40 factory (clearly stated in the pre course instructions) & seem to recall only using 9 as others have already said. 3 round group into normal target then 2 prone, 2 kneeling, 2 standing all within kill zone on roe target. Don’t remember having to do the 10-20m head shot that some have mentioned?

And the risk of repeating though - factory ammo & make sure you’re properly zeroed before turning up!!

That was the old shooting test, it was revised last year.

As you say they always state factory ammo only and that the rifle should be zeroed.
