How often do you change your rifle?

Impressive. I've got 3 gun safes just for the daily shooters, a gun room for the collectibles, and a long wall of overflow guns, That doesn't count those under beds and in closets. My son took 30 of his to his house.....didn't make a dent.~Muir
If I lived where you do I suspect I would be in a similar situation!

Hmmm. I developed a simple strategy many years ago which has virtually eliminated the need to change any of my rifles.
All I do any time I feel that a rifle is at risk of becoming worn out - obviously sometime way in the future, is buy another one - then by simple arithmetic (same amount of my time but more rifles to be shot = less shots per rifle) the rifle(s) in question cannot be shot anywhere near as much, therefore any concerns about future barrel wear and the need to change are eliminated - period.
Simples - you are all welcome…

I test fired / zeroed a Howa Mini in 7.62x39 this week and was showing the results to a good friend over some bourbon that evening. We both confessed that we owned rifles we had never shot.~Muir

PS: I bought the Mini because I'd read so many conflicting accuracy reports. This rifle was quite accurate even with military ammo.

I never change my rifles. Thus far I've a .22LR Brno Mod 2(1983), Heym SR21 6.5SE (2006) and .22WMR (2024) (a gift). The only addition I would like, would be a falling or rolling block action in 6.5SE (no justification for it, just a whim). I'll never shoot out the barrels on these firearms and I hope to pass them onto my son in due course. :) Given the hoops we have to jump through in this jurisdiction it's no wonder we have a limited number of firearms!

I have four - .22, .223, .270, and .308. In truth, I almost exclusively use the .270 for stalking, but the others are just too pretty to part with! And the .22 is far too valuable a tool to part with

I change rifles like I change under garments. @Muir can attest to my constant acquisition of new, interesting and intriguing rifles (a running joke between us actually). That Hammerli Force 1 (for example) was actually surprising. All the word was that they shot like crap. But, considering the horrible trigger on it, it shot like it wants to be far more accurate that many so far have said is possible. Variety is the spice of life...

I'm doing my first change now. I bought a cheap 270 with decent scope, couldn't get it shooting well enough to be confident on live targets (pitted barrel, likely from storage with a moderstor on), 1 for 1 variation currently in to replace it with another 270. After taking the scope off, the original rifle owes me nothing.

Other than that, I'm firmly in the "only buy, never sell" camp.

Far too often in the past. I'd hate to think how much it cost me to keep changing. I've come to realise that there's a lot to be gained from using a rifle that you really know. I've had a Tikka T3X 6.5x55 for 6 years now, and have real confidence in it. I did buy another T3X in .270win a few months ago. I like Tikka's simplicity, accuracy and reliability.
