Picked up a HW 77 from my local to test in 177 and it's pretty blooming good.
10 crows this morning hate it and several pests yesterday also.
Just needed the safety looking at.
Herman says it's about 1987 manufacturing, 38 years old!!
God bless zee Germans.
Now got to pay for it 🤦

Lovely rifles; l should do more with mine. Beginning with putting a halfway decent scope on it, to replace the no-name 4 x 32 that’s been holding it back for years…

maximus otter

I’ve been getting back into air rifles recently and have restored a .177 hw77 and a .177 FWB sport. The kits with top hats washers and piston sleeves really transform the shot cycle and overall experience. I used Welsh Willy kits and they’ve really good

Legendary air rifle! Loved mine in the 80's , a .22 full length & .177 carbine. When they first came out, the stocks were unlaquered & could be oil finished. Beautiful classic sporting stock shape... preferable to the angular stocks now in my eyes.

Brings back some great memories that does.

Started off with a HW35,then bought my first slugger which was a BSA Airsporter bought for £90 at 15,then traded for a brand new HW77 at 17 but sold later that year when i joined the army.Did go back to one later and a great bit of kit.

Nothing wrong with the HW35 with the side latch for the barrel, loved mine when I was a trainee keeper and shot loads of rabbits with it.
There was if you’re lefthanded.
Couldn’t get the hang of cocking my mate’s 30 and ended up eventually getting an 80 in .20.
It’ll be 29 this year.

Just need to find someone who can refurb the original Lazaglide action

Hi Smelly,
I’ve got the HW77K and it’s extremely smooth and the trigger (Feels like it’s been worked on by someone with skill) is exceptional.
Safety is the only downside.
Sometimes it sets automatically and sometimes it doesn’t.
If the safety in on then you take it off but don’t take the shot, if you then try to push the safety across it won’t go.
For the amount I use it I will live with it as is.
Shot 3 Maggies in last month that came to raid the Blackbirds nest in our garden.
Ken.

Got one when they first came out in 22 and loved it, then sold it along with a 35 in 177. Goodness knows why! Couple of years ago got a 97k and like it a lot but a 77 it is not.

Ken their safeties are not resettable mate.
They also often need a stronger spring or a good stretch.

Hi SD , I have owned many of the HW range , I currently have a HW80 that came for repairs ( safety catch ) . They are automatic when you cock the action but when switched off you can’t reset it unless you re cock . They do tend to stick, if so ,just remove the rear pin that holds the Record trigger, the trigger unit will then hinge down enough for you to pop out the safety button ( watch out for the spring behind the safety button) remove the safety button and spring, give them a clean and inside the hole , lightly oil , and put back together 😀👍🏻

Lusted after one as a kid but only ever had an HW35!
I'm the opposite, I had them all except the 35. Just bought one on here off a chap. To scratch an itch more than anything. Sadly it was knackered , had a porous cylinder so its producing 200 odd FPS.
Pity, as looking at it brings back memories.

I've heard of this leaking tube. How exactly does it leak? Allways wondered.
