I will try to take a couple of photos of the scope in the morning so you can see the strange colour it has gone. It's not an expensive branded scope so cannot justify spending much on it but the optics are good.

it ant a minox by any chance is it they seem to go a funny bronze colour?

I believe this happened in a shops display case as it has two obvious stickers on on Price and ???

It has only lost it's black where the air could get to the finish easily but under the lens caps it's still black.

Saw something similar when F.A. Anderson of East Grinstead was enlarged inside with all new display cabinets and the special soopa dooper bulbs in them ruined several scopes but that was years back now.

I bought a scope from winkies in tain about 12 years ago and it had the gold coloured markings on it.
Had no effect on the scope itself and got me a price reduction!
I was told it was because it had sat in the window in the sun in the heat and had marked up.

Like I said there is no markings other than the 6x42 on the ocular housing butt he optics seem quite nice. Tis a recent acquisition. Thought I might have a go at a re-finish on it just how to go about it is the question.

NO it will not be cammo as I hate that  ................................................. so it will have to be either black .......... most likely ................................ or I did wonder about green like S&B did on the original scopes for the AIAW rifle.

well if you are wanting a flat colour then you could just spray it with a matt spray prime it with a metal primer then just use a matt top coat and the obvius mask the ends and it should take well looking at the scope it looks like ali that usualy needs etch prime but iv done my scopes with normal and it takes fine.

as for diping its only any good if you want a pattern ie cammo. you still have to prime and bace coat to dip.

any one get around to geting a kit and trying it out?
would like to se some pics if you did

and let us no how you get in with your scope brithunter hope you get a good result
