I lost my pocket knife

Sadly a few days ago I dropped my Opinel pocket knife I have looked everyday since on the same hedge line, no joy.. I mentioned to a friend, and he gave me this, he bought about 10 years ago, but didn’t like the feel of it, so it’s been in his man draw ever since..
I see what he means, yet it’s a lovely knife, as being metal, and me an engineer, it burns to the touch

Actually I'm quite superstitious about giving knives to friends. A couple of friends who I had given knives to died suddenly so when my daughter who was setting up home said she wouldn't mind a knife set for Christmas last year, I flatly refused her request.

P.S. Nice looking knife Plummer but I would still buy a replacement Opinel just as a spare.

I lost my opinel when I put it down after gutting a few rabbits, realised I'd left it and went straight back, but was unable to find it. One year later to the day, I was in the same spot gutting rabbits again, looked down and found it, cleaned the rust off it oiled and sharpened it, then lost it again the following week

I lost my Swiss Army knife at a campsite in Kent a few years back. Looked and looked but couldn't find it.

Same site 2 years later and I spotted it from 10 feet away, right by the hedge I'd cut a couple of little hazel sticks from with it originally !
It's been all round the world with me .. Fishing in the USA, camping in Oz, opening bottles of Fanta in the Hindu Kush, and whittling sticks in the Amazon rain forest. I was gutted when I lost it, but finding it again was meeting up with a long lost friend.
I feel for anyone who loses a pocket knife.

We visited Laguiole in central France last year, and you have never seen so many knives or knife factories with guided tours. Worth a visit, but they are not cheap. That was a very generous gift.
I gave a British penknife to a French pal many years ago and he rushed off to find another (basic) knife to give to me - one cannot give a knife, just exchange one for another in case you need one in a crisis.

Now 20 years old and going strong, so last year visited the village and purchased another.
