I never f@@@ing knew

When it snows, it snows... and you know it. What's more dangerous is driving on black ice - had a bad experience once, and it can be scary. Luckily, I didn't hit anything at the time but reason learnt. On the plus side, modern cars will warn you when it's betwen 0⁰C and 3⁰C - which is when the road might look clear, but it isn't - especially if you're the first car on the road in early morning. Obviously, good winter tyres will help.

Starmer will put us in lockdown to avoid the NHS being inundated with snow accidents 😂

Sad world when kids speak of a time when it actually snowed. Mine are 8 and 11, live in Scotland, and have seen proper snow less than 5 times here - that’s not right.

Just checked my lottery ticket, didn’t win - what the actual f£@& is going on!

I'm heading to N. Yorkshire this weekend. I'm very excited there might be something approximating proper snow. I've packed these to injure myself when tomorrow's plans are likely cancelled. Shame we no longer have cross country skis, not that they'd fit in the car!

We then get the 'advice' not to drive unless absolutely necessary...

Well, if you don't drive on the roads, the snow settles, builds up and the salt doesnt get worked in and it makes it hang around on the carriageways for ages (I drove a gritter for 10yrs).

What they should be saying is learn to drive to the conditions, keep a winter kit in your car and carry on as normal with caution.

I am headed to the Swiss Alps next week (where I have a car with suitable snow tyres, as you can imagine). So, snow is expected :D but hopefully nothing more serious than -5⁰C to -10⁰C.

Annoys the feck out of me when everyone drives in the centre, instead of helping to keep the road open, particularly when the local drivers know exactly where the roads edge is.

Its called the Nanny State. Its winter, sometimes it snows, even as far south as Kent, where I live. But we have a frost this morning, around -3 at the minute. Well, it is winter, and it does get cold. But we are now at the point where any slight wind, snow, rain we are warned, big time.

Have you noticed this has become worse since Michael Fish made his forecast in 1987, don't worry there is no tornado sweeping through England? Seems to me that since that time, every slight up take in the weather has a name and a coloured warning attached to it.

We get the same alerts . It dropped to -34C last night so we were inundated with severe cold warnings . Anyone who needs to be warned that it's cold in Canada , in January , shouldn't be allowed to reproduce . Maybe it's just me .

yeah ive been to canada in winter went snowmobilling stopped for a smoke and my moustashe snapped of i took my camera out for some shots and it blew up it was -30/32 c but i would swap that memory for anything it was awsome bs

On a similar theme, they issued a yellow warning to the elderly (possibly 70 plus) to make sure you keep warm! Those of us who are that age lived through times before central heating and knew very well how to keep warm.
Mind you the warning is not much help if you were relying on your winter fuel payment!
Yup, laying the fire & lighting it, after ashing out in the morning before breakfast and school, was a bit more involved than turning a thermostat on the wall.:)
