Not wishing to discuss politics or, heaven forbid, Brexit and Trump you nonetheless may wish to understand the additional cost implications of a £47 on-line order from a German supplier to the UK in 2025:

Brexit maybe but I fail to understand how shipping from Germany to the UK has anything to do with .......not going speak his name haha.

Too cheap 25£ are not going to bring back the sweatshops too UK. It was better 150 years ago then the texile industry were world leading and the cole smoke made kids pale and sick.

I don’t think Tax is just a UK issue.
I have family living in Spain. They seem to pay tax on everything,

Father died on the 5 December, his wife will get taxed on the value of his car as it was in his name , she will also be charged for transferring ownership of car to herself.

Go live in another country check the rules there first.
Their country their rules.
North Carolina USA has I believe tax on the value of stuff that you own cars boats etc, not sure about guns as they are not registered.

You are now paying VAT, duty, postage and a currency transfer fee ( you are no longer in sepa). Customs/shipping company may also tack on a handling fee to complete the customs declaration.
Companies in the UK are subject to the same costs when exporting to the EU.
Guess why?

The U.K. is still in SEPA.

Just ordered c£500 of German tools, from a uk based company. Might have been more expensive than buying direct from German but , for reasons like the op is experiencing, I didn’t feel like there was much (if any) saving to be had, especially once all the handling (non transparent) fees are due. A sad but true reflection of the position we are in.

Don't forget the gallons of yellow snot 😬

I’ve just had some Rusan adapters delivered from Holland for my Pulsar Krypton.

Got charge the VAT (simple case of 20% of the sterling value of what bought and the postage) plus a £12 handling fee.

Looks like you’ve paid the same, but UPS is a little more expensive for handling.

There is some water between UK and mainland Europe that makes shipping (sharp intake of breath between the teeth of the seller) costalotta.

Last time I bought something from the UK I was charged an extra currency transaction fee?
I thought it was SEPA related but maybe not.
Are you outside the exchange rate mechanism?

The ERM is unrelated to SEPA.

The U.K. was in the ERM for only a couple of years in the early 1990’s.

Thanks, found it. The bank applied a transaction fee for the sterling conversion. I presume it works both ways.
