In the begining there was...

Nice lookin' bullets and cartridges, but then I like the looks of the .444 Marlin regardless of what bullet it's sporting. Home-made ones are just 'better'. ;)

Well mkII spider assy did not work!!!! Should have known that messing with thin stuff would end in tears!
MkIII is half done, it is an insert with thread that fits in the tube and a spider support outside of tube then just a matter of fusing the 3 parts together!
Will post pics when I get a chance!

Just made a thread protector (I will install a front sight if I find one I like) to finish off the rifle as the brake is Bloody loud!
Quick machining job...longer preparation and polish job then immersion in hot caustic salts..result a nice deep (difficult to photo) black!

thread protect 01.webpthread protect 02.webp

BTW, Moderator works well enough so that you could shoot all day... Is not quiet by any means but is not so loud that it is uncomfortable to shoot!
Forgot how this light rifle kicks, but it's real nice to shoot and easy to handle free-hand. Was using a 240gn lead HP Cast and swaged types approx 2200 fps (did not take chrono as it was pi55ing down.
