Indestructible scope lens cover

Hello all
First off for some reason I can't post pictures on SD of the new lens covers I've discovered.

Having broken many Butler Creek flip up scope covers over the yrs especially the front lens cover , each time I get replacement ones I resent every penny spent as I know they won't last long .

Anyway last month I ordered some rubber feet covers /end caps to put under the chair feet to protect the wooden floors in the house .

This was my eureka moment as I realised these could also be used as the front indestructible eye piece covers .

I measured on my S&B 8x56 the front eye peice OD and got 50mm rubber end caps / feet covers , this size is a perfect fit for the front eye piece of my scope .

These caps are of a flexible rubber and create a good seal protecting the eye piece . They aren't as easy as the flip up covers as you have to physically slip this off which i can assure you isn't hard to do , but I'd go as far as saying they are indestructible and won't break .

I've trialed this over the last month or so and they work really well.

At £3.95 Inc postage for x 10 of them ( Ebay) if you loose one it won't break the bank .

All I have to get now is rubber end caps for the front of the scope and I will be set for ever .

Seems things are heading back in time:

These are even better as you can 'ping' them off with a flick of the thumb:

Thanks, that is a grand idea. Gonna get me some of those for taking the guns to the range and for storage as i get annoyed with dust and stuff one the lens that somehow gets on the glass even when the rifles do not see the light of day.

For hunting work, I use the little Harkila neoprene magnetic covers. Not had any breakages yet and they are super easy to silently and easily flip down for the shot and then immediately back up once shot taken. The only money I am prepared to throw in Harkila's direction but so far it has been well justified.
