Innomount QR mounts - Offset or normal?

Hello,

I'm looking at picking up some Innomount QR scope rings. It would be to use with bolt action .30.06 rifle with picatinny.

Initially I would be using it with a Pulsar C50. I may later swap to a thermal scope.

I'm not sure if I should go for the standard 2 piece:

Or a 2 piece offset. I saw lots of guys showing their setup with these mounts using offset:

I may later change both the rifle I use and scope but it would always be a bolt action centerfire. My rifle is in another country and I'm picking this up
to take with me.... so I don't have the luxury to put it together and test eye relief etc.

I can’t get eye relief right/ scope far enough back with a thermal without offset, if that helps at all.

That does help thanks. Would that perhaps mean getting 1 set of Inno mount in regular (for my dayscope) and 1 set in offset for the night scopes?

Got all three and to be honest it hasn’t made any difference to me on day scopes - went with anything that was on a price deal.

All I would say is that the Innomount is a great bit of kit and that the two peice feels considerably heavier.

Just remember that when you mount and zero, to push or pull the mounts so that the Innomount recoil bar is flush either forwards or backwards with the Picatinny rail bars for a repetitive return to zero.

Also that all rails are fractionally not the same diameter - so really is more of a detachable same scope/rifle set up.

Same here, with a Thermion I needed the offset high mounts to get it far enough back.

Do you mean to say the 1 piece is heavier? (it looks like it would be heavier)

Oops - Yes correct one peice is heavier.

To be fair they all are noticeably heavier than standard fixed rings.

I’ve found eye relief needs of thermal well worth the offset Innomount purchase.
For day scope, you could use any suitable QR rings. Innomount are good, as are others / leupold, Warne etc. Bit more flexibility on choice at lower price if that’s a factor. You could even use non QR rings on day scope, with note of torque setting good rings should remain repeatable zero.

If your fitting them to a bolt action rifle and need eye relief the offset mounts do allow you to bring the scope quite a bit further back..

The Innomount Offset weaver and picatinny mounts allow for extended reach back mounting to prevent better eye relief for a comfortable mount position.

Also factor in if your weaver rails are not identical it's highly likely they will be slightly different widths, so what might be a tight fit on one rail will be a loose fit on another rail.

So ideally your using them on the same rifle OR same rail sections..

Just resurrecting this post to get some clarification, so any helpful answers would be greatly received.
It looks like there is an Innomount QR that fits directly to a Tikka T3x dovetail.
Or have I got that wrong and it still requires a Picatinni rail on the rifle?

I've been doing a lot of research as I was having issues getting the scope to return to zero. It's recommended that you push the mount forward until it stops in the rail before you clamp it down.

This prevents the scope from moving forward with recoil as it may do if you push the mount rearward.

Hope this is helpful and has aleviated my frustration with holding zero using a rail.
