Insurance

I always go with these guys Global Rescue insurance, they will evacuate you via helicopter from anywhere in Africa and gives you piece of mind if your in the bush. Hope this helps

I was just about to ask the same question when I saw this link. We are going to South Africa for 14 days in total including travel. Just checked the Global Rescue website and isn't what I'm looking for.$329 for up to 45 days abroad! And that just covers the medical side.Surely someone must know a reasonably priced uk company who will cover the flights, baggage and illness for a plains game safari hunting trip in the Eastern Cape. MJ75, hope you don't think I'm hijacking your link but I didn't want to start a new one for the same subject.

Err , should you get ill or injured out in the bushveld you will be helivacd out of there to the nearest hospital, paid for on the PH`s policy but I think you know that anyway :)

nope, probably not that decent PH that you referred to!!:D

If a PH offer you this, it excellent!! and a good value added business strategy!!...but most don't offer this and are for the clients account. Keep in mind in RSA we have medical aid and medical insurance - isn't the same thing. I probably have the best "HELIVAC" unsurance, but someone has to pay the bill of the hostipal still...Global Insurance is the best in the trade and i will suggest them anytime...

But if an injury was caused by an error on your part your insurance would cover the hospital bill ?

Johno,

No, probably if you have something like a liability cover insurance. The problem occurs when a 3rd party get envolved in insurance (The PH, the hunter and the insurance company). Much easier to insure the PH only for accidents, but this again only covers the evacuation from a area to a hospital...he stills have to have medical aid to cover the hospital account...

It is not applicable for any PH's to have such cover and as i indicated a very good "value added" to your safari if they have. The majority of RSA outfitters and PH's has a contract to sign; idemnifies them from any liability...

Some Outfitters has liability cover, but the majority of that monthly premium will go for damages to their farms and implements or property occur...
