Interesting open letter concerning the lead shot/ammunition ban

Page 10, between 30-06 and 300 BLK. Last time I looked the 30-30 uses a .308 bullet. The Bushmaster or VRG3 is a flat nosed non toxic bullet that they have in 135 and 150gn .308 diameter.

More details about the VRG3 bullets from the Peregrine Website

“Also known as VRG3, this bullet is purposefully designed for hunting dangerous game in dense thicket or bush conditions. It is renowned for exceptional knockdown power, deep penetration, and the ability to withstand the toughest bones while ensuring perfect expansion on both bone and soft tissue, even at impact velocities as low as 1500fps. The frontal design ensures a straight wound channel for clear entry and exit points, facilitating effective blood trails. Proven in Africa against the toughest game!”

Most 30-30s are a 1 in 12” twist. Min twist rate of the 135gn .308 according to technical specs is 1 in 14”.

@Edinburgh Rifles had a number of the Bushmaster bullets in stock when I picked up some peregrine bullets a couple of days ago.
Thank you.
I missed them thinking they were a solid.

It rather debunks the claims by the enemies of shooting sports that suitable alternatives are available.
Rimfire lead free is dire. To be frank, its downright dangerous.

No expansion, ricochet on absolutely anything. The 35g NTX are wayyyy to hard a bullet to expand on even fox. I dare say anything 22lr won't be any better with lower velocity. I did try the 15g ntx in 17hmr and they were no better

I think airgun and rimfire ammunition will be allowed as lead in the new legislation.
Yes, thanks to technical reports submitted by BASC during the HSE consultation lead airgun pellets can continue to be used anywhere for all uses, as can lead rifle ammunition calibres below 6.17mm, such as .22 centrefires and rimfires. BASC will continue to lobby Ministers for .243 to be allowed anywhere for all uses as per technical reports submitted to the HSE on issues with non-lead alternatives such as stabilisation and the lack of muzzle energy. The vast majority of registered rifle ranges that already follow best practice on de-leading will be able to continue using lead rifle ammunition. As regards the government shortening the expected timeframe for lead shot to be restricted from five years to three years on the assumption that the ammunition is readily available – that is not the case for commercial and supply reasons beyond the sector’s control – and BASC is urging the government to oppose the shortened proposal of three years and go back to the five-year timescale proposed by the HSE.

If you are genuinely interested in a discussion about the science, policy and politics as regards the forthcoming restrictions in the UK and EU feel free to PM me to organise a chat.
I’d like your friend @Heym SR20 to find me a study that proves eating lead shot game causes illness in humans , he insists it does so id like him to back it up with a scientific study that proves so 🤷🏻 shouldn’t be hard to find as he’s so insistent it does …..

What I would like to know...given that BASC's contributor here has said that they do NOT intend to seek a derogation for .22 Rimfire and 9mm Rimfire shotguns is this. Do they therefore think it suitable or sane that I use instead a steel shot loaded 12 bore shotgun to shoot rats in a forty-five foot long back garden that has neighbours on all its three sides?

What do you thinks will happen to historic guns muzzle loaders and so forth they seem to need to be fed with lead? I’m no expert on these things but I’m curious?

I'd say that the health and safety executive is asking you to do something unsafe!
Hopefully no one gets hurt but if so I hope a good barrister rings their scrawny necks!!

You'd probably get away loading with rice at short range!

If memory serves me well I think he has outlined this in myriad threads over the years and he is closer to the real world medical research than you and I, this being various ongoing medical investigations and discoveries that may well help us all in terms of treatments that involve reducing lead levels in our systems (from all sources including lead shot game) to treat various cancers etc. Why do you need him to provide a 'smoking gun' piece of research for you? Are you not capable of a Google Scholar or AI assisted search of all the research and come to your own opinion? You are free to form your own opinion and continue to consume lead shot game for you and your family if you wish. You don't need his opinion to decide for you, do you?

Because he insists upon it so therefore should be able to prove it ? If you insist upon something then someone asks for proof and your incapable of providing it it rather undermines your point doesn’t it 😂

I will let him go and do his google search, as he might learn something.

I have posted the core evidence in many previous posts. I really can not be bothered to pander to his demands. Its why I have ignored him.

I can relate to that. The following update from Norway may be of interest:
