Ah but then when some turn out to have very low levels of lead in thier system folk on here might deliberately misquote them saying they have high levels in order to support a fanatical agenda …… who might that be![]()

That first one’s barely expanded at allI had a long drawn out day yesterday trying to get a non lead bullet to shoot from my rifle.
From a box of 50 I've come away 20 loaded rounds accurate enough for circa only 100yd shots!
Recovered bullets ranged from impressive expansion to zero expansion.
My experience so far is disappointing to say the least!

Fist bullet removed from clean soil. Second from sand and gravel.
I'm doubting their humane ability.
You are talking utter bollox.
Hi Tim. If you shoot at an approved range where they have control measures in place, can't you also carry on using lead ammunition? I haven't seen many police for example out in the woods shooting pheasants or deer. Don't they tend to fire live ammo on a range? Then the odd bullet or two in real life situations. If lead is that toxic why no military ban?
How many times are people going to make this irrelevant comment. What is it that is wrapped around most lead bullets. That first one’s barely expanded at allbe careful mate copper is toxic to humans
I’m sorry you are struggling buddy might I suggest another bullet? I have found it impossible to get yew tree bullets to group LARGER than an inch and very effective in dispatching game.I had a long drawn out day yesterday trying to get a non lead bullet to shoot from my rifle.

Do they do one for 3030 and do I need a bank loan?I’m sorry you are struggling buddy might I suggest another bullet? I have found it impossible to get yew tree bullets to group LARGER than an inch and very effective in dispatching game.
They can be bought in 30cal I would recommend the hollow point for 3030 as it’s quite a slow calibre compared to some.Do they do one for 3030 and do I need a bank loan?

Doesn't look safe in a tubular magazine and the ogive looks to long. They can be bought in 30cal I would recommend the hollow point for 3030 as it’s quite a slow calibre compared to some.
Thanks.Ok I don’t know about that but it has a blunt end although to be honest copper likes speed and keeping the terminal velocity above 2000fps might restrict your range a bit? View attachment 430521
I would tend to agree that slower velocity rounds have a good case for exemption…. Although I wouldn’t be counting my chickens! I suspect many will cast bullets in some heavy relatively easy to melt metal for that sort of calibreThanks.
Looks like leverguns should exempt!
ill be shooting lead my friendHow many times are people going to make this irrelevant comment. What is it that is wrapped around most lead bullets.
Comments like that will get copper banned too. Then you will be shooting. Erm, erm oh yes nothing.
Yep, first one fine if you are a marathon runner that can keep up with a frightened deer!I had a long drawn out day yesterday trying to get a non lead bullet to shoot from my rifle.

I think it is easy to find outliers that prove that copper doesn’t work. I guess that’s the reason we need exemptions for small calibres and so forth. The truth is most modern deer legal calibres will shoot copper absolutely fine and the terminal performance is also fine. My advice is try it and with the right bullet in the right calibre you will be pleasantly surprised. I know I was.Yep, first one fine if you are a marathon runner that can keep up with a frightened deer!Just gives me the willies looking at that.
With a copper jacket of some sort !ill be shooting lead my friend
any luck on finding me that study ?Re the 30-30, some options to consider.
Try the Peregrine VRG3 Bushmaster bullet. These are a flat nosed bullet designed to work at low velocities and close range on big game. The 135 and 150gr work in 1 in 14” twist and their load data gives 4 different loads for the 30-30 cartridge
Peregrine bullets are available in the UK, but you might have speak with the importer re the VRG3 in .308 cal.
In the US
Choice Ammo and Buffalo are loading a 150 Barnes TSX FN bullet in their 30-30 load

Again haven’t a clue whether such bullets are being brought into the UK. Ask your RFD to see if he can get them. Or go straight to whomever imports them. Even better have a few others with 30-30’s that are used for hunting and thus create a market demand.
Or approach one of the UK bullet manufacturers to develop a bullet. The beauty of the turned monolithic type bullets is that on one cnc lathe you can make any bullet you like. The investment is the design and programming, and in these days of CAD that’s not huge.
