Hello,
My Name is Nick I am 31 years old currently living in the Midlands but often travel most parts of the UK with work.
I am looking at getting into deer stalking in the UK.
I am British but I lived in most of my life in France where I shot rough game with a shotgun, driven big game (roe and boar) with both shotgun (probably frowned up here) and rifle as well as stalking and highseat shooting mainly with a compound bow and occasionally a rifle.
I need to apply for a firearms license but from what I understand I need to have access to deer shooting before to determine caliber etc... ?
I am also looking at taking a DSC 1, in France something similar is mandatory to get a hunting license.
If there is anyone kind enough that could point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated.
cheers
Nick

You do not need to have access to deer shooting before you are granted a UK FAC.
You do need to have a "good reason" to own each and every firearm - this could be for collection/target/stalking/hunting etc.

The DSCI is an excellent idea (cue Roestalker39) and a sensible step on your journey. Note I said a step on your journey it is not (nor should it be) your destination.
You will learn and you may also meet like-minded folk with whom you can form friendships and contacts.

Even joining SD can help.

I wish you well on your adventure.
