IR illuminator

Hi

I’m looking for a bit of advice if anyone could help. I’m currently using a pulsar C50 on a creedmoor with the 850 illuminator it comes with and I don’t really rate it, I also use a pard DS35-70 on my 223 and can’t fault that at all. Any recommendations on different IR’s for the C50 would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Thanks for that I’ll have a look. Have you heard any reviews about the black sun dark engine? I’ve just been looking at them they’ve got a lot of good reviews but I will look at the PBIR 👍🏼

The Dark Engine Blade is excellent with any dedicated scope.

It's a perfectly even beam with no hot or cold centre so the scope can expose the image correctly without whiting out. There's also zero spill so no moderator glare.

It's so small and light you can mount it at 45 degrees towards the rear of the C50 and tuck it in between the turrets.

You won't even notice it's on the rifle.

Cheers

You must have the gen 1 DS35 as the onboard IR for the gen 2 is a bit lackluster. I just got this delivered from aliexpress. The performance (admittedly just out the bedroom window into the field opposite) is really good. So much better than the onboard IR and only for like £15. combined the difference is night and day. literally. But like anything made from chinesium the longevity is TBC. for a £15 punt might be worth a gamble

On my digex I've used loads including the pulsar 850 , ( it was crap ) the best is the Solaris Srx 2 or slime new wraith if you don't want the bulk , both
Absolutely mustard out to 500yrd or more

Thanks a lot I’ll havto a look at them, it’s on my creedmoor so it’s mainly long shots

I have tried various different types of ir illuminators on my C50 and given the remarkable performance and relatively small size I don’t think you’ll get anything better than the Dark Engine Blade currently.
Thanks, I’ve heard this from a few people. I’ve borrowed a pbir from a friend to try, it’s good but could be better…

Used a Blade and Wraith ESL on my Alpex 4K and the ESL is considerably brighter, has more adjustment and most importantly gives the cleanest image of any VCSEL laser i’ve used and thats nearly all of them at some point, its as clean as LED which is where most lasers fall down.
I was given the heads up by a fellow Blade owner who switched and he wasn’t wrong.

find the pard great on a 17HMR for rabbit control but interested to hear whether people think you need a bit more further out (<100m) on deer/fox?
