Hi!

Is anyone using digital pocket scales? Are they alright for loading plinking ammo?

I am still new to reloading and using balance scales and they are great, but I thought maybe with extra digital scales it would be easier with reloading ammo that don’t need to be precise accurate (mainly time preservation).

Thank you!

I used some Lyman digital pocket scales, which were 'ok', but you did need to re-zero them all the time.
A reliable alternative for quick measurement would be the Lee dippers - they are set up to be an accurate volumetric measure (which is pretty spot on).
Dip - level - pour into case.

Thanks!

I already use Lee dippers somewhat, but still use beam scales to check that charge weight is more or less ok. I guess, I need to practice more with them to get more or less consistent load, it’s just sometimes scooping powder with them would bring a bit more powder.

Although in the long run I do plan to invest in to a decent digital scales like RCbs charge master or something similar. But there are multiple options for various budgets it’s getting a bit hard to choose 😀

They can work (digital pocket scales), but you really need to track the subtle changes they start to throw up as you go through a reloading session.
Also, invest in a set of check weights to ensure that the start is accurate.
