Is this 6 point buck worthy of getting it cic medal checked

Why do you think he would have been better a couple of years ago? Looks like he's in his prime to me, that's all.
Maybe I should have left him a year lol mind you chances of me shooting that farm next year are fairly low as it’s a one off cull unfortunately

no, Anti hunters and their ilk are the same misinformed disney loving can't we all get along fools here as there lol
Most of my pictures are typically only shared on hunting forums, and if not for the anti hunting bandwagon i wouldn't have found this forum, it was from an article about reindeer hunting and had to find the outfitter, show some support.
I will share a picture with you, the one in my hand is my most cherished trophy, my sons first deer

Well said!! I was going to ask what the definition of a trophy would be, but you’ve just shown the perfect example!! One of my favourite ‘trophies’ (I don’t have many) is a young cull buck, 3 points, which was the first buck I culled where I currently work. Most folk wouldn’t look twice at it and would probably have put it in the larder bin. But it was the start of a new chapter for me, will go up in my man cave one day!!

A trophy is a memory of a hunt, or at least that’s what I personally feel it should be. The posts from you and @dobber would suggest some sympathy with that concept.

It is when the size and score of the trophy becomes paramount in the pursuit of quarry that things tend to go awry, at least IMHO. Doesn’t matter whether that quarry is deer, game birds or fish!

Obviously nobody knows, but the head doesn't look as though he has gone overly back.
Tines still nice and long and everything still relatively decent.
Left one last year, that I pondered about taking,an older beast,in top condition and a cracking head.
The lad that came up from Suffolk took it this month and the reduction in the antlers was pretty unbelievable in a year.
Have vids from him last year and this, and hard to believe the difference.
Any chance you can post a couple of photos from each video to show the visible difference please

I would agree with @willie_gunn in regards to the paramount objective, but frankly in my 45 years of hunting, in several countries, with literally hundreds of people i have never met one of these people. Now i am not saying they aren't out there, but typically they aren't well liked by anyone and "buy" whatever they want vs the typical hunter who will showcase "their" trophy as a memory of the hunt. I have been to Africa 3 times to do this so called "trophy hunting", some of my kills are hanging on my wall, but i was just as happy shooting springhares at night as i was the Kudu. It was an experience, and those euro mounts on my walls are a reminder

Very poor pics as just used the camera to take stills from the vids although the vids crystal clear.

Tines about halved in length, the narrowing that usually comes with age, less pearling and weight/length reduced.

Carried the extra tine for the 3 years i had known him.P1040974.webp

Brilliant thanks appreciate your efforts.
It’s great to see a bit of historical reference with specific bucks and goes to show just what a difference a year can make.

Trust me they exist. They just don’t admit it and get all upset when quizzed about it. Marco Pierre White is a well known trophy hunter, who buys stalks for medal bucks regularly. Africa is so different that it shouldn’t be talked about in the same breath IMO.
