The Doc took one look, and said Lyme disease. 30 day course of Doxy.

28 days on a very late diagnosis
( No tick or bite ever found) Put my Lymes in remission for about 6 months.
I have taken courses of Doxycycline intermittently over the last ten years.
I tested positive again around 3 months ago.
Still have the base symptoms but the has settled down with beta blockers.
I would obtain some dox and take another course pronto if you get symptoms. Mind the sun you will be a vampire whilst on doxy .
Aches. Fatigue. Itch fuzzy head. Flu lite basically.
I think I got done when I landed a big permission and my FAC at the same time as over training for triathlon renovating a house and working full time.
Probably weakened my immune system and just
Htfu with the symptoms.
Hindsight eh .

Thank you gentlemen for all the advice. Saw the doc today. Was surprised at how reasonable she was. Its a teaching clinic and I'm finding the younger they are the better they seem to listen.

I'm now on doxy at 100mg 2x/day for 10 days. They said this was the early lyme dosage. Would have been much stronger if I was showing symptoms.

I did press her for an answer about the 24-36 hour rule and she said it was purely about tick mechanics. This is how long before a tick was engorged enough to regurgitate. So, that is only a guide not a rule. We agreed that I could have sped up the process by removing the tick improperly.

Found some good stuff in the barn to also treat it topically because...why not.

Doctors these days are more switched on to Lyme disease.
I've been bitten more times than I care to remember, I had a reaction a few years ago, no bullseye rash, but had flu like symptoms, doctor said blood test at early stage a waste of time, hit it with antibiotics.

The reason I'm typing this as 0245, I got bit on my leg Wednesday evening, what ever it was has caused a reaction, left leg swollen up and painful, I'll see what happens during the day.
I'm not too concerned, I'm very susceptible to reactions and insect bite/sting, was nearly killed by a wasp once!

I hope you feel better soon. I was lucky with my doctor. She trained in Vallejo California which is also in a high risk Lyme area so was as you say switched on.

Wot I will add if ur removing the tick urself in an old fashioned/non advised method, it will encourage the tick to regurgitate into u, no matter the time.

I know personally I would far rather leave a tick on me than try to pinch/nip it off with my chunky fingers and no nails.
All I'd do is squeeze its body and encourage it to regurgitate into me.
Not good.
I generally have twisters in my pick up and kennel anyway.

Both lighters/fag ends and baseline are more likely to encourage it to regurgitate too.

Tea tree oil is good Stockholm tar. Bugs, large or small don't like them.

Rather than start a new thread and not to derail the existing but , my mother in laws arm this morning , bitten and father in law brushed something off of her arm about a week ago started off itchy now feeling fatigued went to the doctors they said they aren't sure if a tick bite or not , gave her some fucibet cream and told her to come back on Monday , due to go on holiday on Thursday so not ideal if put on doxy

Looks like a spider bite, I react the same. Takes weeks to calm down if you’re slightly allergic

The ' bullseye ring' that effected me bad after a tick bite was about 10 inch across with definite ring marks ,, but I'd not take any chances ,

Don't think all tick bites show up as a bulls eye. I ended up in a bad way in hospital from tick bites a while back , not one bulls eye ! was on the ward over a week . The dog was covered in them also wife and daughter cleaned him up great while i drove myself to Hospital . if your feeling rough after picking up tics get yourself to hospital . Don't miss the tiny little tics they are not so easy to find on your own !

Itching.

Yes too little too late unfortunately
I think I got in before it was fashionable!
I had it un diagnosed from approximately
2013 - 2017 got diagnosed with
Work related stress
Fibromyalgia
And various other shots in the dark.
Clinically diagnosed myself eventually and had to ask for a test which was done reluctantly as
'"it doesn't come down this far " ( Wiltshire)
Test came back positive.
" That's surprising I've tested one other person and only yours is the online came back positive" (50%)
Too little Doxycycline for not long enough and my health has been annihilated .
I saw no bite or tick . But I was stalking and over training ( triathlon) whilst working full time and managing 5 properties. I think I burnt myself down to become vulnerable to infection .
Unfortunately my first reaction to a drop in sporting performance was training harder.
It comes and goes and I seem prone to re infection.
Also if you test positive when you have finished antibiotics you may only be in remission.
Dr won't bother with a follow up test to see if you are clear . 3-6 months later you may find yourself in re sus with issues ( Lymes carditus)
And arthritis.
Still could be worse

You do not always get the Ring around the wound . It put me in hospital about a fortnight if i remember correctly . First night the trolly i was on was pushed right up to the the Nurse station so i could be monitored .
