I have just watched this old video of Jack Hargreaves covering fly fishing on a small stream and Roe deer Shooting. I hope that you guys will find this episode as interesting as I did.
While Jack doesn't care for it as a sport he does explain quite well why it has to be done for the benefit of the deer and the land - Much is the pity that so many tree huggers and antis can't get that into their tunnel visioned thich heads!

Oh absolutely - I thought he gave a great explanation as to why it is necessary and how it should be done. As I was watching it I again kept thinking "if they could only make programs like this today then the vast majority would get a far more balanced view of the sporting world". The chance of that happening, of course, is sadly minimal.
However it also came through quite clearly that he had a strong dislike for trophies, as well as shooting deer purely for sport. It is a sad reflection of how times have changed.
What he would have said of deer stalkers posting photos asking "I shot this last night - do you think I should get the head measured" would likely see Out of Town having to move to a post-watershed slot!!
