Keep or sell dilemma

Welcome your thoughts on my dilemma

I have 2x .223 AR15 for CSR and lovely tikka built 24" 1in7 Wylde chamber so can run 75 eldm and going to try some other to stretch it's legs but know it is excellant to 600

and 2x.308 rifles. One recently made for stalking on a tikka action which means my other 308 a Valkyrie built stiller spectre 20" fluted one that won't get as much use. Has done very well in use historically for comp and stalking sub .5moa

Do I use the .223 instead for the comps I may do occasionally up to 600 and move the other 308 on due to the little use it will get or hang fire for the low ££ that I probably won't get for it even though over 4k when new and just enjoy it occasionally

Funnily enough I’m considering a sort with my rifles.
Some thoughts I have.

Beware the man with one gun he might know how to shoot it- it’s great when you have a rifle sorted, have ammo it likes and it just works. Too many rifles turns range day into a logistics deployment.

Equally it doesn’t cost anything to keep it - if you use it a few times a year it’s justified or every other season of comps ?

Don’t get sentimental about them - that’s what I say anyway - as it’s been said it will sit and gather dust. Things become old, spares cannot be sought etc

Equally removing what you don’t use shows licensing your sensible - my FAC has changed over the years almost going around is circles - try something enjoy it move on.

Anything custom you’ve spent a small fortune on, you will get 1/3rd on reselling, if even possible. Your dream custom will not be someone else’s, they will not see it as something ‘special’.

One of the biggest mistakes IMHO is wasting money on expensive custom rifles unless you are a professional or a down and hard dedicated competitor.

If you sell them to simplify your life, I bet in 6 months you’ll be looking at another custom build; because, you’re likely wired that way.

Sleep on it..go for a long walk, and think about what you really want to do with your life 😂

Completely agree with above - I’ve never built a my spec custom just bought other people’s that suit my needs. For Ashcroft benefit I'm only parting my stuff of no value - a tikka that is now shot out and I aim to get something for the action.

You’ll get pennies on the pound!

If there’s no pressure, leave them. Take them out once in a while, you won’t regret keeping them…

I’ve also got an AR straight pull in .223 that’s great to shoot but in reality gets neglected so looking to offload in the near future. Difficult choice though.
