Keiths High Seats

Im not connected or have any affiliation to this company, but thought a review of their service and product may be of interest to anyone considering buying seats.

I decided to look for some freestanding seats that are portable, easy to erect and sturdy - quite specific criteria, I also wanted something that would last years of use so began searching the web and asking for recommendations as to who could provide such items.

I had several recomendations for Keiths High Seats, so contacted them, had a chat over the phone and looked at their web page : Products they offer an array of deer managment equipment that appears to be well though out and well constructed

So I ordered some 360 degree free standing seats for use on an area of forestry

Once ordered - I was updated regularly by them (Angie thank you) as id aske for them to be galvanised which took longer than the standard powder coat finish, from order to delivery was about 2.5 months, which I thought perfectly acceptable given CV-19 restrictions were in full force at the time

The Seats arrived a couple of days ago in shrink wrapped and palletised form, with simple instruction on assembly - if you can count to 4 you will be able to assemble one of their seats.

The areas where the legs interlock has been redressed after galvanising, and all tapped holes cleaned out - so the assembly took 15 mins (two person) for each seat

The shiny galvanised finish will tarnish in time but more importantly will allow years of use without rusting.

The 360 seat has a plastic seat mounted in a cradle with bearing that allows silent rotation, the seat base has galvanised mesh that is non slip and the ladders are wide and may be accessed and climbed easily without having to perform gymnastics to enter the platform area.

The upper rail is set at a height that allows average person to rest their rifle on and with additional rear support and foam protection is silent in use and very steady

Overall I cannot fault their customer service, attantion to detail and construction.

Id recommend them for anyone wishing to consider seats or stalking equipment without hesitation

We just took delivery of 4 one man lean to seats, great quality in both design and construction right down to the nuts and bolts, delivery bit later than planned but we are in CV times

For Sale: - Black astro turf for highseat rails

I have three spare lengths of black smurf turf suitable for lagging highseat rails. Each is approx 1 metre x 2 metres and will easily cover the rails of a 36” x 36” rifle rest. This stuff is permeable, the squirrels won't chew it and your owls and other raptors won't get their talons stuck in...

I have one of Keith's stand alone seats, amazing quality and easy to build! I ordered a man and a half seat which fitting in the back of my corsa when I collected it! Yes they break down that small!!

Keith also makes a great cuppa and Angie always keeps you up to date...Great service from a British company!!!!

Pipe insulation works just fine - Though your idea is worth considering but I’d need a lot of it as I’ve lean to’s at several other locations,,,,

Another +1 for Keith’s stuff - I’ve got 3 lean to and one free stander. Powder coated is much cheaper but went for galv for the last two (and a quick spray with some Matt black paint to take the shine off until they dull down naturally).

Keith is a nice bloke too - picked a couple up off him in person and wouldn’t hesitate to use him again.

I put an old bicycle inner tube over the foam and held on with cable ties, works and keeps uv off the foam.
Sad to see the security cable additions though as it shows how light fingered the population seem in the UK, not all of course but the risk of theft is just higher, I would never need to even consider that one here in Germany.

Particularly so at this location as there are a few “scamps” (including members here) who covet the site and will try any means to get on there - including pretending to be “professional cullers” but that’s another story for another day and is detracting from Keith’s excellent seats

People over here didn't use to believe me about all the thieving that goes on in the UK.

I've got one of Keith's portable pulleys. Wouldn't have been able to lift those Fallow bucks up for carcass prep otherwise.

Looks great and an ideal solution to give you the flexibility to shoot multiple angles.

I’m guessing it’s probably a combo of ease of production (they look like standard ladders from keith’s lean to seats) plus stability

I would also recommend a length of scaffold tube hammered deep into the ground, a clip (threads mashed) with a length of security chain/padlock.

The most important piece of kit on that seat is the non standard piece of wood to act as a elbow /back rest...
All mine have a back rest built in. Others I use then my sticks act as the back rest.

Here in Germany they sell Schachtleiter which are like those ladders but come from a large factory and are used for going down into cesspits and such so they come galvanised, 300mm wide or 400mm wide treads that are ribbed for better grip. This has given me ideas.

If you put a ladder up at the angle you would climb up ( say 10 ft ) this will give you the correct angle to make the brackets at...easy, often things we use every day go unnoticed.
