Kennel Run Fall/Gradient

Alright folks with all this talk of kennels etc and i'm just setting off a new kennel block i'm building for myself.

Just putting the sub base down ready for the concrete, is there a set/standard fall u should aim for on the runs?
Can u have them too steep?
After previous kennels i have alway said i'll give it plenty in future, but u forget how much u gave them as been a while since i built 1.

Been in with digger/dumper 3 times now taking out bigger stuff and adding finer stuff and i must sub conciously always load the area to get it level. U think u have took plenty out then u think it looks too steep put a wee bit finer stuff in to blend it put the bead on it and its the same fall u had before :doh:

The runs are going to be 3m long, i was thinking 4-6"

I don't think 4" would be enough. 6" might be ok. I can't remember what the fall on my kennel floors is, but I know I've wished ever since that I'd made them a bit steeper...

Cheers VSS, to be fair 4" actually looks quite lot at least to my eyes, but it could be a visual illusion thing.
Think i'm that used to putting bases in level it plays on ur mind having them sloping and they look worse than they are.

But i have made the same mistake as u previously and wish i had them steeper but can't mind how steep they were either.

The standard falls for water drainage would be 1-100 so 10mm fall for every 1M, and for foul it would be 1-(40-80) which would be 20-25mm every 1 meter, you will not need more that that or it would be a ski slope.

Cheers osin, so for 3m ur roughly 3" (75mm)

I must admit i had it about a brick on edge to get my board level, so about 4" (100mm) and it looked a decent gradient, but i probably thought that about my last kennels too.

When I did mine it was 10mm - 1M so 30mm over the 3m make sure for the runs you have adjustable feet fitted, and you will need to lower the panel at the higher end of the fall and then it would be ok at the lower end of the fall. I.e you don't want 75mm at one end then you have 150mm at the other if you put the panels in level... I would say 50mm fall is ample over 3000mm

Drink six pints and hold the water in then go out and have a snakes hiss on a gradient you think is ok then time the run off :D

And don't forget, if your concreting skills are like mine (I'm sure they're not, mine are, erm, "unique") any slight imperfections on the surface will hinder the runoff and create pools of liquid. Which is really annoying and smelly.
Like VSS I wish I'd put a bit more fall in.
