Hi Byron there’s a place over in Yorkshire that does it i will find the name and send it on to you pal

No idea about Cheshire or Staffordshire, but I had a day of one-to-one tuition at Twisted Horseshoe Knives in Suffolk, on a "knife in a day" course. It was a proper job in the forge, starting from scratch. Well worth the journey.

Sorry I can't answer that as I was given a voucher for the course as a gift last Christmas.
It was great having one-to-one tuition, and it was a long day too. Made myself a nice knife to bring home:

Thanks. I wanted to keep to a fairly simple workmanlike shape. I got some inspiration from another SD member, particularly for the handle profile. I was just amazed by the processes involved. For example, all the shaping was done using the forge and anvil, not cutting and grinding as I thought!
If you check out Twisted Horseshoe Knives on Instagram you'll see some fine examples of other students' work, each to their own design (within reason: It's got to be doable in a day!).

It was pretty damned sharp when I brought it home, but whether I can keep a decent edge on it remains to be seen! If I can't, the fault will be mine, not the knife's!

Credit to you for the inspiration to give it a go, and for your help with dimensions etc.
Really enjoyed the day, and would love to make another one sometime.
