The leather collar I hand stitched it's a 3mm thick offcut from evilbay. And the anti slip on the bottom is paracord .
Simple things but will make it last

What’s your go to knife? I’ve just sploshed out over £500 on various knives (I know in know). It’s a bad addiction.

I’m leaning to a small compact type knife for complex work. And a small axe for camping out and building pigeon hides (chopping fire wood, branches etc)

Sog terminous uk legal is my favourite knife, it’s sturdy, takes a good edge!

I’ve had loads of axes and found the gransfors to shallow for general purpose work, good for cutting but not splitting, the estwing are really industrious and can be used as a hammer etc, maybe not as pretty as Scandinavia axes but take a hard beating!

Some of the old school car boot axes are great when re handled, you can put a longer handle on them and make them sfa length

Big fan of Spyderco for folders and regularly carry a small slip joint for edc. Benchmade also make great folders.

For fixed I’ve quite a selection but have recently bought some lovely and well made knifes off custom makers on Blade Forums.

I quite like the spyderco they make some very nice small sharp blades

Checked out their website unfortunately, I need a small unzipper and they have one which is just right. I might give them a call. They do look a good work blade and will gain character on showing some age

On the "only carry with good reason" front, it's a Leatherman Wave+, a TBS Boar fixed blade for bushcraft, a Real Steel bushcraft fixed blade, and my Wood Tools axe.

My go to for reds is a Danum fallow stalker, nice long blade to bleed deeply and fully. For roe i have a snakes knife, with a thin gently curved blade and heck is it a good wee knife. Axe wise I was going to go the route of a Grantsfor but my local camping shop owner buys old english axe heads and refurbs them beautifully, so went this way instead. Quite a thing, shaving sharp!

The wee bugger hid the knife as I was sacking the buck Got sorted with a metal detector to have a look for it

For less than £500 you could have a go at making your own, I made these a few years back and they've served me well.

As for an axe you can't go wrong with gransfors bruks.
