land rover freelander...

Hi john.
The td5 heater aint any better than the 300tdi. Im lucky tho that my defender is an XS model 90 with heated seats so at least my arse gets warm :-D
Your rite in that most 4x4s now will takle almost anything a stalker is likely to put it through in regards to off road use. Its when your doing some pretty rough off roading where the defender 90 comes into its own with its excellent approach & departure angles front & rear.
The heaters are still no good tho

Agree with you John, To defrost my old 200 tdi 110 you had to turn the heater on before the frost came!! Ripped a few gearboxes to bit but that was due to the weight that we were towing off road. Had SATs tyres on and it would go anywhere!! Bloody awful to drive on the road at over 45mph though!

Hi

I've got an XS 110 DCPU and the heated screen and seats are great in this weather making up for the poor heater.
Like others have written off road its the tyres that make all the difference though the big thing is getting a good compromise between road use and off road.

At the end of the day no matter what 4x4 you have, there are areas where you will not get with it. Thats why I bought a Honda Quad 450 Foreman. Towed behind my 4x4 you can tackle just about anything whilst out stalking.

Sikamalc.

Dead right I've got a yamaha grizzly, like you said can tackle almost anything and can carry or drag many beasts.
