Land Rover Self-immolation

Had a reliant scimitar back 8n the day where that had a problem with the fuel return ferule coming loose while the engine was running.
The underbonnet light switch was a great auto ignition system when you popped the bonnet open to take a look.

Also Had a vauxhall senator which cracked a pressuirised line spraying a fuel / air mix onto the exhaust manifold.
Stopped to check why there was lots of ‘steam’ coming from under the bonnet and a stink of 4star…..i was smart enough not to open the bonnet till the engine had cooled..found the source of the problem without getting barbecued

I slowly passed a vauxhall corsa a couple of years back that was stopped on a verge of a dual carriageway, an old man was helped out of the drivers seat by a driver of a car that had pulled up behind. A fire had just started under the bonnet and was just lapping the bottom of the windscreen. Car's were giving this a wide birth and the fire had literally just looked to have started, even though it was only for a second or two, I could not believe the amount of heat that came in through the heater vents of my car from the air outside.

I can see how easily people burn to death in vehicles whilst trying to flee fires in other countries.

Mercedes ML have a habit of catching fire as well. Had a series 3 start smoking one night out foxing, lifted the bonnet and pulled out some melting wires along the bulk head, strangely everything still worked, never found out where they went.
