Lansky

Hello,

I am thinking of buying a Lansky sharpening system as Santa Claus mugged me off.

I didn't realise there were so many options with stones and hones. Is it worth getting 5 stone set? Splash out on the diamond ones?

What are the hones like? Is the "leather stropping hone" worth getting or would a normal leather strop be better?

I would suggest the 5 system with the yellow ultra fine included - will cover you for everything. Diamond version will simply last longer.

Personally - got the leather strop and think its a bit rubbish - better off having a separate strop for when you just need to touch something up without getting the kit out.

To get the most out of it, you will need the desk clamp or vice stand making it so much easier.

I use 25 degrees on everything as a balance between sharpness and edge retention..It really does get edges sticky sharp. 👍

I really like mine. The three stone set is perfectly fine. If you have a few 'super steel' knives then it might be better for long-term to buy the diamond hones (again, 3 will suffice).
